The buildings and monuments in Tirunelveli are astonishing. The famous Nellaiappar Temple in particular is a kaleidoscopic feast, an explosion of color and detail that’s supported by musical pillars. Needless to say, it should be on your itinerary. Tour a nearby tea plantation, enjoy the cooling cascade of one of the area’s many waterfalls, or nibble on halwa (a local sweet) while you take in a Tamil film at the Central Theatre.

We visited Agasthiyar Falls in the middle of February. The falls is surrrounded by lush green forest and the whole place looks magical. The waterfalls is quite good with a wall dividing the men and women bathing area. Water is heavenly with lots of herbs. The force of the water is surpringly heavy though the height is around 25 ft only. The surpring thing is that all animals roam here after 5:00 p.m. so we have to leave by 4:30 p.m. In all the whole experience left me thrilled. Will definitely go back again
