Another beautiful building of Timisoara, one that is well maintained but can be admired from the outside only since it is a bank - the Palace of the National Bank. Built between 1903 and 1904 based on the design of Josef Hubert (renowned architect of the period his works can be found in several cities in western Romania) it originally served as the headquarters of the Austrian-Hungarian Bank . After 1918 - 1920 the building became the property of Romanian National Bank. It is built combining late baroque elements and secession style features , with beautiful decorations on the façade it is indeed a building to be admired. If you are in the area , check it out , it is worth a few minutes and few pics.

The Stefania Palace - known under several names " The House with Monkeys" due to the animal characters decorating the façade of the palace or the Totisz Palace after the name of the Rudolf Totisz (former consul of Belgium in Timisoara) and the name "Stefania" was the name of his wife. Built on the design of Laszlo Szekely - the former Chief Architect of Timisoara - in 1909 the palace nowadays is in very condition, it is privately owned and can be seen from the streets near Traian square, however it is worth a few pics. Architectural style is Secession / Art Nouveau and the decorations are very interesting and the most impressive one is that of the pikeman in full armor on the tower towards the Millennium church. Overall the building is in very good shape and it is worth a visit once you are in the area.
