Ethiopia: Home to over three millennia of culture, Ethiopia stands alone as the prime destination for travelers interested in ancient history. People come from across the globe to view the heavy hitter’s city of Addis Ababa but also to see some of the world’s most recognizable art and to taste Ethiopia’s famed cuisine. Escape into Ethiopia tours help visitors do it all, while cutting down on time spent traveling between attractions and waiting in line. And while the Ethiopian capital boasts enough history, masterpieces, and food to fill any itinerary, its central position near Ethiopia’s north makes it an ideal base for exploring farther afield. Axum, Lalibela, Simien Mountains, Gondar, and Bahirdar are popular 2 weeks-trip destinations from the capital city.

I’m reviewing my tour with Yama Tours which, because of the pandemic, did not happen. It is important to chose a reputable tour operator and one you can trust. Our tour had to be cancelled because of both the pandemic and civil unrest. In these situations, you are concerned about your deposit. Yama Tours could not have been more thorough, trust worthy or understanding. Hopefully, within a year, we will be able to rebook our trip with them, having dealt with them in adversity, we look forward to joining them once situations allow, Ethiopia is a travel ambition and we couldn’t be happier to enjoy it in the capable hands of Yama Tours!

The northern Ethiopia is also Known as the Historical Circuit, there are over two millennia’s worth of ancient treasures scattered about, from giant obelisks and hidden tombs at Aksum to a collection of castles in and around Gonder, to unique churches in Lalibela, Tigray, Lake Tana and many other places. Not to be outdone by human mastery, Mother Nature really let her creative juices flow here. The Danakil Depression, an esteemed destination among adventure travellers, features a permanent lava lake and a bright-yellow sulphuric plain, while the Simien Mountains wrinkle the land with canyons and peaks with a beauty you’ll struggle to find anywhere else in Africa.

My partner and I had a wonderful day at the Zuqualla Mountain. Joseph and Nico guided us on a private visit. They took care of everything, and showed us local jems. It felt like we were road tripping with our buddies - it was above and beyond! Really great service, it is not the last time, can definitely recommend! Thanks

Over the centuries a series of churches of differing sizes and architectural styles were carved into cliff-faces and rocky-outcrops, many still in use today. Whilst following Ethiopia’s classic northern circuit through Lake Tana’s monasteries, Gondar’s castles, the Simien Mountains and Lalibela’s monolithic churches, we get off the beaten path and explore this beautiful region in the heart of Ethiopian history.Journey along Ethiopia's magnificent northern circuit .

expat in Addis , My family and I had a fantastic experience with EthioTours . Had a fantastic morning tour on lake Tana . Beautiful sunrise and a fantastic breakfast. The guide was really knowledgeable about all the animals we saw and explained about the fishermen and what they were doing. Saw plenty of hippos too! It was an amazing experience, we visited three beautiful islands . We would like to thank Melese for showing us all unique areas and sharing the stories . Private tour was absolute best way to relax and see the beauty of the lake. Highly recommended !
Axum was the center of the marine trading power known as the Aksumite Kingdom, which predated the earliest mentions in Roman era writings. Around 356, its ruler was converted to Christianity by Frumenties. Later, under the reign of Kaleb, Axum was a quasi-ally of Byzantium against the Persian Empire. The historical record is unclear, with ancient church records the primary contemporary sources. SIGHTSEEING ● North Stelae Field ● Axum Zion Church ● Queen of Sheba’s Palace

Just returned from 11 day Ethiopia tour with Alenehe as our guide. It was an interesting and enlightening tour covering major sites including the spectacular Lalibela-alone worth a visit to Ethiopia. Challenging driving on less than great roads but incredible mountain scenery and opportunity to see smaller cities and villages experiencing local life along the way. Comfortable hotels, great local foods. Alenehe was a great guide, accommodating and enjoyable/fun company. Recommend this Ethiopian company using local guides in all locations and benefitting local businesses!

I highly recommend Finot. Haile can capably arrange the most popular tourist attractions and make suggestions for a 'deeper dive' into the country. Even more important, he is passionate about all aspects of Ethiopia--history, culture, wildlife, food.... and works to make sure customers have a great experience. I felt with Haile and driver Josep, i was in good hands at all times. Amazing country, keep an open mind, sense of adventure, sense of humour, and you will be rewarded.

Fantastic. I had a tour with Muluken (guide) 2.5 years ago, and this was great, just like last time. Muluken is a great guide, friendly, knowledgeable & he is the exact type of guide I look for on a tour. He is authentically friendly, not forced or fake. He gives information clearly, not just spitting it out fast / confusing. He wants you to learn about and appreciate his country. It was the highlight of our trip.
The Dallol Depression, also called Danakil Depression, is a desert with some areas that are more than 100 meters (328 feet) below sea level. This is special because it is one of the lowest points on earth not covered by water. There are hot yellow sulfur fields among the sparkling white salt beds. Heat isn’t the only thing people feel in the Dallol Depression. Alarming earth tremors are frequently felt. There are also several active volcanoes and stunning desert landscape.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to immerse in the fabric of some of these societies, including the Mursi, Hamer and Karo tribes, each with their distinct culture. From Addis Ababa we drive to the Omo Valley region and enjoy a boat trip on Lake Chamo to spot hippos and an array of water birds. For the next few days we move from village to village, witnessing traditional lifestyles. The Mursi traditions, whose women insert large clay plates in their lower lips, and the Hamer, who scar and paint their bodies in a mark of their culture, are incredibly fascinating. Visiting the Danakil Depression is a real expedition. The sometimes very rough roads are leading into hot and dusty area. But you are going to be rewarded with a once in a lifetime experience in one of the most beautiful places on our planet. Extraordinary scenery, amazing nights under the stars and the brave Afar people are waiting for you.

Yene of Horizon Ethiopia Tour Addis Abbaba organized a marvellous tour from Addis Abbaba to Southern Ethiopia. We chose the 4WD with driver/guide option. On every step of our journey we were met by a local guide who gave us a private tour. Our driver/guide Jira was very professional, efficient, punctual, very kind and displayed unwavering dedication. We discovered a country with a long history, a magical cultural heritage, varied wild- and plant-life, and spectacular scenery. The friendliness of the staff at the hotels is like no other. Their helpfulness outweighed the little worries of Wifi connection and limited supply of hot water. Breakfast and dinner were good with an attractive buffet offering a wide choice. Overall we were delighted with our stay in Ethiopia and hope to come back soon. Because it is quite difficult to visit Ethiopia without the help of a travel agency, we highly recommend asking Yene from Horizon Ethiopia Addis Abbaba to organize your travel in Ethiopia.
