When it was completed in 1902, the New York Herald proclaimed that Whitehall, Henry Flagler's Gilded Age estate in Palm Beach, was "more wonderful than any palace in Europe, grander and more magnificent than any other private dwelling in the world." Today, Whitehall is a National Historic Landmark and is open to the public as the Flagler Museum, featuring changing exhibitions and special programs. The 75-room mansion contains many of the original furnishings as well as an art collection. Adjacent to Whitehall, the Flagler Kenan Pavilion houses Henry Flagler's private Railcar No. 91 as well as a seasonal restaurant, the Cafe des Beaux-Arts, which offers a Gilded Age-themed tea service. The Museum Store offers for sale a wonderful collection of books, gifts and memorabilia with a focus on Florida history. Open Tuesday through Sunday.
Well worth a visit despite the fact that the entrance is currently being renovated. This home reminds me of American royalty, if we had such a thing. The admission price includes a self-guided tour you can listen to and also includes Flagler's personal train car. Impressive, especially the dishes used, the enormity of the home, and the numerous decorated/named bedrooms.

A Japanese cultural history museum.
These gardens are well maintained and beautiful in all seasons of the year. The museum has a authentic replica of a Japanese Tea room and if you’re there when the tea ceremony is done you’re in for a wonderful learning experience. The museum has different exhibitions so there is something new when you return. The bonsai garden is spectacular- don’t miss it. After you’ve walked through the gardens and worked up an appetite, have a bite to eat at the Cornell Cafe. The food is delicious. It can be very hot in summer, so bring your sunscreen and hat and maybe and go early in the day. They host festivals on some weekends during the year that are a lot of fun for the kids. Check their website for the exact dates. There is an self guided audio tour that you can purchase at the gift shop that explains the different style of Japanese gardens that are within the park. Listening to it as you walk through definitely enhances your visit.

My three years old granddaughter absolutely loved this museum. She dressed up as a postmistress, shopkeeper, and cook. We couldnt get her to leave the outdoor playground. remember this is a city funded museum so isnt terribly sophisticated, but little ones love something different and i suggest it for visitors with young kids.

REally interesting overview of the history of Palm Beach starting from the ancient native tribes, through the Spanish, British and American flags. They have a lot of older artifacts, a nice movie of the history narrated by George Hamilton- a Palm Springs native- and a lot about the founders, movers and shakers that have made the city and county what it is today. We especially appreciated the insights from Michael, our host and guide who gave us wonderful background information on what we were seeing, It was a couple of hours well spent and very enjoyable.

The Cornell Art Museum, located on the Old School Square campus in downtown Delray Beach, strives to show contemporary artists who create innovative and provocative works of art. Inquisitive visitors enjoy intriguing pieces of artwork while discovering new artists and styles. The Museum exposes the Delray Beach community to artwork that is culturally relevant and exciting, hoping to foster creativity and inspire imagination. Museum shows typically begin with a theme and blossom into dynamic group exhibitions that excite visitors from all backgrounds. Old School Square is the center of arts & entertainment in downtown Delray Beach. Serving for over 25 years as the community’s gathering place, the historic campus includes the intimate Crest Theatre (in the restored 1925 Delray High School building) the Cornell Art Museum (in the 1913 Delray Elementary building), and the Fieldhouse (c. 1925). The Pavilion, which opened in 2002, hosts outdoor concerts and festivals. The Creative Arts School (located on the second floor of the Crest Theatre) offers art, photography and writing classes.
Just the right size, a small contemporary art museum with excellent exhibits that display local, national and international artists. Interesting exhibits make contemporary art accessible. And great museum shop featuring unique affordable jewelry, ceramics, and gifts, and artwork by local artists.

This is one of my favorite places. You would never suspect that this place is here. I love vintage cars and what a treat to be able to look at beautiful well kept cars all in one place. Make a trip and check them out, you will not be disappointed.

This is a fairly quick winter stop to see manatees. They gather around the power plant for warmth in the winter months, so the best time to catch them is when the temperature is chillier than usual. I love watching them swim slowly along and stick their little cow snouts above the water to take a breath. There is a little museum/education center in the building, where you can learn more about these fascinating creatures. There’s also a little gift shop inside.
