Centraal Station

Completed in 1889 and located in the heart of town, this neo-Renaissance rail station was designed by P.J.H. Cuypers, the same person who designed the famous Rijksmuseum.

Beautiful building with amazing architecture and history, there's information hubs large screen's and timetables available throughout the station with regular updates on departures and arrivals, the ticket stations are convenient speedy and it's card only payments, a very busy station any time of the day or night so plenty of time is required for people to get around the shopping area also deserves a mention great shopping options ????

Waterbus

Waterbus is the largest public transport ferry system in the Netherlands. With 111 employees, 13 ships and 19 stops, the fast ships will take you 365 days of the year for a fun and comfortable tript to Dordrecht & area and Rotterdam. One of our most popular stops is Kinderdijk. Reach the famous Dutch windills with line 202, which navigatesn directly to Kinderdijk from the 1st of May until September 30th. You can use your Dutch OV-chip cart or buy (day) tickets on board. Please mind: cash only.

We planed a day trip from Rotterdam to Kinderdijk. We took waterbus #20 from Erasmusbrug (Rotterdam) to Kade to rent bikes. When we stopped at De Schans, the captain came to us and asked if we are going to Kinderdijk and we should transfer at this stop if we are. It's very nice that they try to remind tourists not to miss their stops! We use OV chip and have to tap in/out, it's under 3 euro per trip. The overall experience was great.

The humble tram is THE way to scoot around Amsterdam - far safer than hiring a bicycle in this bike-crazy city. At least in a tram you're insulated from the bonkers fellow riders, daydreaming pedestrians who step out in front of you etc. There's a choice of ticket - a one-hour pass, a day pass, a two-day, three-day, four-day etc. We stayed four days, and got a two-day, but quickly bought another for the convenience of stepping on and off. You can buy them even in soft drink bottle dispensers. It saves your feet for all the walking you'll do anyway, round streets and galleries. Remember, in Amsterdam you touch in and also touch out on the pad when you use a tram.

We took a NS Sprinter train to go to Zaanse Schans (Zaandam Kogerveld station) from the Schiphol airport station. The services are very efficient, the trains are pretty clean and punctual. As a rail fan, I liked those trains in particular. The ticketing system is also very simple. If you have an OV-Chipkaart, that can be used both in NS and GVB services. Though for NS services, you have to maintain a balance of 20 EUR.

During the summer months (july 20th – august 31th) Rotterdam RET bus lines 32 and 44 come with their own city guide onboard, who tells more about the sights the bus passes. Come on board, listen to unique stories about the city of Rotterdam from now and the past while cruising past the highlights of the city. You can easily hop on- and off the bus, while traveling for regular bus fares.

Spent a day on Holland and found the 1-2-3 Day ticket so convenient! I was there only 1 day so paid the 41 euro price but had access to trains, metro, buses and trams! If you plan to be in the Netherlands, then this is the way to go. So convenient. Purchase your day passes at Schiphol airport to avoid wasting money! I purchase after I arrived into Amsterdam but I did not know. It will save you lots of money.

In true Dutch tradition, this is a beautifully designed, efficient and modern train terminus/interchange. It's accessible and efficient, and has everything under one roof and is a completely modern counterpart to the historic Amsterdam Centraal station. It's huge - 22 platforms and its concourse is the size - and appearance - of an airport. It's connected to the huge Hoog Catharijne shopping Mall adjoining and various other amenities.

P&O Ferrymasters

Just returned from a mini break in Amsterdam and we were really impressed with the ferry. We had a club class suite, as there was 5 of us. It was really spacious, a double bed and 3 bunks, television, tea and coffee making facilities and a full mini bar, which was all complimentary. The room and en-suite bathroom was incredibly clean, we were very impressed. We enjoyed a few drinks in the Irish Bar and in the Skylounge, which we really enjoyed sitting in, it was very relaxed and comfortable, with a very relaxed vibe. We had a terrible crossing going to Rotterdam, we’re were caught in Storm Dennis, but, we arrived safely. I would recommend using the safety belts provided on the top bunks, I felt more comfortable knowing that the kids were strapped in. Coming home was much calmer, we ate in The Kitchen, which was an all you can eat buffet, there was lots of options to choose from and it was really tasty and great value for money....especially when you have 3 teenagers to feed! Every member of staff makes you feel so special, they’re incredibly polite and helpful. The ship had 2 cinema screens, so the kids went to watch a couple of films, while we had a few quiet drinks in the skylounge, which was great! Can’t fault these ferry journeys, you take your chances with the weather, some people will complain if the crossing was awful, but, they would complain even more if their journey was cancelled because of the poor weather. It’s not P&O‘s fault, blame Mother Nature, don’t let this put you off this form of travel. We’ve been to Zebrugge and Rotterdam now with P&O and would thoroughly recommend travelling with them.

HTM operates trams and buses in and around Den Haag. On our recent visit to the area we used the tram system extensively using the '3 Day The Hague travelcard' which we purchased at Den Haag Centraal station. Using the card is straightforward, tapping in and tapping out the card on each journey. The trams were frequent, clean with clear visual and audible announcements and were incredibly easy to use.

We booked this deal through groupon 4 people sharing a cabin and I think it worked out at £31 each super cheap! We drove from Bedfordshire to Newcastle to get the ferry the parking is great right next to the terminal no problem getting a space and it £12 a day we parked Sunday to Tuesday £24 which I thought was great. Cabin is very small, 2 little beds opposite each other and then 2 fold out ones on top to make bunks. Take your own pillows the ones you get are like half pillows???? but we asked for more and we got some are they were full size again towels are miniature so I’d take your own! One plug in the cabin but Luckily I read that on here before and took a extension lead and you need a Europe plug adapter and it is pretty hot in the cabins apart from that the cabin basically was just a place to sleep so that was fine. Drink prices are London prices which I am used too, we did take a pack of 12 waters on board which saved money and a life saver, it says you can’t take alcohol so we didn’t and there didn’t seem to be anyone searching so we were gutted we didn’t! But I suppose do it at risk in case they do. Transfers into and out of Amsterdam very easy, there isn’t a lot of time their like 5hrs so you can’t do too much, we have been a few times so we just walked around and had a few drinks which was nice! Buffet we book before we went for 1st night dinner and you get free breakfast for £22 the second night we thought we would eat in Amsterdam but the last bus was 4 so we ended up buying the buffet again but it was £30 each and didn’t include breakfast so I’d book both night before, food was good exactly the same both nights but tbh we were only there 2 so wasn’t a problem! All in all we had a great time lots of Laughs and a enjoyable cruise and I would definitely recommend it!
