Brandaris Lighthouse was build in 1594 after the former 2 towers(build in 1323;financed by the city of Kampen) were destroyed by the sea (1570)and collapsed by construction failure(1592).I enjoyed looking down on the tower and "West Terschelling" village from the dunes at"Kaaps Duin"and "Seinpaal Duin".The lighthouse can no longer be climbed for the view but the view from the high dunes of "Kaaps Duin" was good enough for me. Sint Brandarius was the Medieval name for "West Terschelling " village and the lighthouse now remembers the former historic name of the village.

It's a beatiful lighthouse near the village. You can easily walk to it. Unfortunately you cannot climb the lighthouse! That was disappointing, but still, for a well-kept landmark worth seeing.

A visit to the Texel lighthouse is totally worthy. We visited on a week day in the afternoon and it was not busy at all. Our visit there lasred for approx. 30 minutes. You can conbine your visit with a nice walk on the sandy beach. Very beautiful scenery! To visit the lighthouse you need to book the tickets online. The price is 5 euro per person - no student tickets are available. It srays open until 17.00.

Great Views; particularly of the wind turbines which pump the sea water away from the land. Yes, a gem.

The lighthouse ‘Paard van Marken’ (English: Horse of Marken) was built in 1839 by J. Valk. A primitive tower had been on the location since the early 18th century; the current lighthouse is declared a national monument in 1970. The tower 16 meters tall and has a light range of 16,7 Km. Every night it’s light shines over the IJsselmeer.
We enjoyed the walk to reach the lighthouse. The horses chests and green yards it was like we are living there and many locals were so friendly. It’s challenge with 3 yrs old ;) but managed and made it
