Down Town Gourmet Market

Reviewed By mark87m - Epsom, United Kingdom

Dined here with 2 friends whilst in Eindhoven. Despite arriving at 7pm on a Saturday night we were immediately shown to a table (pure luck I think, as usually you would expect a bit of a wait). There are a lot of different types of cuisine you can choose from - ranging from sushi, to fresh fish, to pizza. There is sure to be something to satisfy anyone's preferences! The COVID-19 measures were good - with the ability to order your food directly to your table by use of the Butlaroo app, to save you having to get up to walk around and wait at one of the vendors. The food quality was superb. We had Vietnamese, sushi, and pizza - all of which were excellent.

Albert Cuyp Market

The city's largest street market is just south of the city center.

This is a hidden gem and a must visit place. One of the longest markets in Europe, it offers a fascinating array of food and produce, all at some amazing prices. Be it the fresh Stroop waffles, the grill cheese sandwiches, fresh fruit juices, strawberries with the most delicious whipped cream ever... this place has something for everyone! Oh... did I not mention the cheese?! Some of the most amazing cheese that we've ever tasted! We also got some great souvenirs and found them to be relatively cheaper. The stall owners are friendly and helpful and very welcoming. The market itself is easily accessible from the metro station and is marked easily. Just google the directions and you'll be there in no time at all. This is a must visit place and cannot be missed at all. Just remember its closed on Sunday!

Cheese Market

Reviewed By hamayonm2018 - Hopkinton, United States

Alkmaar is a small town just outside Amsterdam. During spring / summer months, every Friday morning, the town center turns into a traditional cheese market, full of fun and festivities. You have to go there on a Friday morning, and be there before the fun starts. You can see cheese weighing stations, cheese carrying laborers, and lots and lots of concessions stands and small restaurants to offer authentic and delicious cheese, waffles, and other local food. You can go to the cheese weighing station and get "your family weight". At the same place if you ask nicely, they might make you a "cheese carrier" for a few minutes. I was lucky to do that activity, and I looked very funny carrying 300 lb of cheese logs. Great fun place to visit. Highly recommended.
