Visit Tauragė castle that was built in the beginning of 19th c. as a custom house. Today, one of the most modern museums in Western Lithuania is based here. Don't miss a chance to see the tale about the history of Tauragė rendered eith 360° imaging technology inside the round castle tower. Visit History, Ethnography, Archaeology, Nature expositions. See for yourself the all-year-round greening apple tree, two 1500 L aquariums with tropical and local kinds of fish, mammoth bones and so on. In the end, take rest in the relaxation space of the castle vaults while watching VR glasses.
This museum was a pleasant surprise by all means. Permanent exhibition is made carefully, I felt that it's done with real love to Taurage history and nature. A very positive experience! The staff was heplful too. Ticket price is really cheap, don't think twice, just go and have a good time :)

In the House of Torment of Exiles and Political Prisoners the horrific story about the repression of the authorities of Soviet Russia, the fight and massacre of Freedom Fighters and their supporters is told. You can see many personal belongings of Lithuanian people who were exiled to Siberia. Museum premises are equipped with a new modern exposition of prisoner’s cell and punishment cell, interrogation room, life-size reconstruction of Freedom Fighters bunker, educational space. The exposition includes many interactive solutions. The House of Torment of Exiles and Political Prisoners offers the educational session “Establish your own Freedom Fighters district”. The pupils are introduced to the partisan period in Lithuania, Freedom Fighters as an organized military structure. During the course of the session, partisan detachments are formed, the statutes are adopted and the pupils take an oath.
Skaudvile Region Museum is newly located in the historic 1900s building of Skaudvile district. It hosted important and memorable events of the town. Not only were the most important issues of Skaudvile addressed, but also the first „Lithuanian Evenings“ and various cultural events took place here. Later, treatment and household services were operating. There were also painful experiences when the NKVD headquarters (later renamed KGB) and prison was established. Until recently, it was a police station and today all this is remembered in the museum, which was founded back in 1977 by Dainotas Habdangas. You will see unique archeological finds, an impressive medical collection, office of the county secretary, various old documents, photographs and publications, finds of World War 2.
