Sydney offers plenty of historical and contemporary Australian flavor. The marvelous Sydney Opera House looks like a great origami sailboat, floating peacefully in a harbor. Wander the narrow cobblestone streets of The Rocks and then take in a street performance on the Circular Quay before heading into the Museum of Contemporary Art. The views from the Sydney Tower Eye observatory are epic – use this chance to get to know the layout of the city from high above.

Sydney, Australia’s largest and most iconic city known for major attractions such as The Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, offers much more than meets the naked eye. Visitors with a taste for adventure can hop aboard one of the ferries at Circular Quay to visit quaint, coastal suburbs such as Manly, known for its historic wharf and scenic beaches, or take a trip outside of the hustle and bustle of the city to the surrounding Blue Mountains. The CBD is home to many hidden gems too, including Wendy’s Secret Garden, a local artist’s green sanctuary, and The State Library, Australia’s oldest library holding more than 2 million books. Discover what makes Sydney distinct with Fit City Tours, offering a variety of running, hiking, and walking tours that explore the intricacies of Australia’s biggest city!

I was staying on York Street in the CBD, and at the end of my first day of sightseeing, I was jet-lagged and exhausted from the heat. I stumbled across this pool, just a hop, skip, and jump across Hyde Park. There is a 50-meter indoor pool, along with a hydrotherapy pool (a huge jacuzzi, basically). Lockers are coin operated, and the front desk will make change for you. There is also a patio if you want to get some sun. It was a wonderful, leisurely break for a tired tourist. If you're from the U.S., be aware that the circle swimming starts on the left!
