Sydney offers plenty of historical and contemporary Australian flavor. The marvelous Sydney Opera House looks like a great origami sailboat, floating peacefully in a harbor. Wander the narrow cobblestone streets of The Rocks and then take in a street performance on the Circular Quay before heading into the Museum of Contemporary Art. The views from the Sydney Tower Eye observatory are epic – use this chance to get to know the layout of the city from high above.

The light rail is great for getting around the inner city. Opal and contactless ticketing makes it easy and it links up well with buses trains and ferries.

Who'd have thought that traveling on public transport would be so easy and enjoyable. I cannot give enough bouquets to staff of the Sydney train services - whether local station to station inner city network staff or staff directing traffic on country platforms. There seems to have been a culture shift of late where 'public service' really is what it says - service by people funded by taxpayers to people using the public systems!! Yeah!! It's been a long time coming and very much appreciated. Really, every single person we encountered on our recent travel around Sydney and from Sydney to Nelson Bay and return were friendly, helpful and ready to assist. A breath of fresh air. Get on a train!!

A convenient driverless mass rapid transit line servicing Sydney's Northwest. Interchange from Sydney Trains at Chatswood or Epping.
