Things to do in Sydney, New South Wales: The Best City Tours

November 6, 2021 Fernanda Pittenger

Sydney offers plenty of historical and contemporary Australian flavor. The marvelous Sydney Opera House looks like a great origami sailboat, floating peacefully in a harbor. Wander the narrow cobblestone streets of The Rocks and then take in a street performance on the Circular Quay before heading into the Museum of Contemporary Art. The views from the Sydney Tower Eye observatory are epic – use this chance to get to know the layout of the city from high above.

We learnt so much on our tour and saw some amazing places. Peter pointed us in the right direction for lunch and his recommendation did not disappoint!! My Husband and I loved our tour so much we would defiantly use Scott again. We loved looking around the Rocks precinct, getting to Manly beach, some amazing lookouts, going down Kings Cross and finishing up at Bondi Beach where we did the Bondi to Tamarama walk. all in all a 10 out of 10 day!!

We've lived in Sydney for 20 years, but with covid restrictions on travel decided to explore our own city a bit more. We took the Sydney bike tours (boomers bike tours) 3 hour Sydney ride on Sept 11, 2020. The bikes and Grant as guide were fantastic, and though we knew most of the places had never done them by bike. It was a terrific experience and really recommend to visitors and Sydney siders alike. Terrific way to spend a morning. We'll treat our son to it once he gets out of lockdown in Melbourne and back to Sydney.

We had a fantastic day filled with great wine in boutique wineries, absolutely amazing food in the restaurant Bistro Molines and relaxing time. Our favourite was chocolate and wine pairing and private winery tour at Tyrell's estate where we had a chance to taste wines straight from the barrel and some of the premium sélection. Everything was very well organised and if wine is your things we highly recommand this primate tour company.

We really enjoyed the passion that our tour guide (Max) had with respect to the history of East Balmain. Max was very informative and he was able to impart his knowledge with great enthusiasm - sometimes history tours can be a little "boring", but Max had the ability of making the tour very interesting and enlightening. The walk was not too physical either so it would suit people of all age groups. The walking tour was conducted at respectful pace and there was plenty of time to take in the surrounds. Would certainly recommend this particular walking tour for tourists, locals and Sydney siders in general.

Scott was great. Very knowledgeable of Sydney and we went to places you will not find in large bus tours. He was accommodating to our request and made sure we were all (three couples with different interest) happy with the tour. He took great pictures that he sent to us and ended with a great drink at Sydney’s oldest tavern. He was on time and we never felt rushed and was flexible to make sure we saw the items on our most see list. If you are doing this tour you should request Scott!
