Green Dog separates from other commercial dog kennels at Svalbard, since our dogs are a mix between the Greenland dog and husky – and also, since our family, consisting of 2 adults and 4 children – and our guides – are living at the kennel, year round. We put dog welfare above all, so it was a natural choice to live at the kennel, to be present with our 4 legged friends, at all times. When our dogs retire, we put great effort in finding new families for them and this has resulted in many happy relationships. You can read about some of our pensioners at the blog at www.greendog.no. We offer tours with our dogs year around - on dog sledges in winter and on carts or by foot, accompanied by a happy Green Dog, in summer. To give you the best experince, our sled tours are for maximum 8 guests and everybody gets the chance to steer the dog sled. All of our tours inludes coffee & bisquits and we offer a 50% discount for children up to 12 years. We look forward seeing you!

Trapper’s Station – home to the Arctic trappers and their 90 Alaskan huskies. The loud barking of the huskies is the first thing you’ll notice as you approach the Trapper’s Station. Despite the noise they make, the dogs are friendly and eager to take you for a sled ride through the wild Arctic scenery. Besides dog sledding, at Trapper’s Station you’ll experience how it was to be a trapper. Listen to the great stories about making a living from winter hunting. Sleep in at our wooden gamma with open fire and sleeping bags. In the evenings, we serve a meal that will take you back to the trappers’ daily lives, and to times of celebration when they would prepare a real feast. Trapper’s Station is part of Basecamp Explorer Spitsbergen, which operates day trips and expeditions from Basecamp Hotel to Nordenskiold Lodge and Isfjord Radio.
