After working from home, in the morning, I required food from a supermarket in nearby Cobham (to concoct a superb Prawn, Broad Bean, Brussel Sprout and Paneer Phall Curry), so I thought I would take my daily hour exercise here. Last time I was here, was unquestionably 1992, as myself and school mates used to drink, occasionally, at the Anchor Pub - albeit, it now felt like 1892. As you come off the A3 to get to the Lock, you bypass the famous Wisley Gardens, followed by the very quaint Wisley Village, per se, before arrival. The only negative? There is a Sewage Treatment works which does, sadly, put a slight downer on things. The Lock area itself, is picturesque - a beautiful Weeping Willow tree hangs, majestically, on one side. Ducks, Grebes and Mallards can be found swimming around, in large numbers, near the Lock, and there are also a large number of Canal boats, in one singular phalanx on the opposite side to the main path. The area is peaceful and tranquil - a golf course lies on one side; on the other some woods and fields. Overall a very pleasant area to visit.

Beautiful grassy area just off the high street ideal for playtime and dogs with considerate owners particularly when the sun comes to play as well

Lovey place to have a picnic or to paddle near the Thames. Not very large takes about 15 mins to walk the island, great for dogs and kids, toilets and ice cream van in summer due to the canal lock, near a large park and lovely river walk very close, lots of boats too, can flood in winter

One of Epsom's great features is its open space policy, there are 5-6 parks around Epsom town centre of which Roseberry is the biggest. It may not have a café, toilets or any other facilities but as it is only 5 minutes from the centre, it really doesn't need them. There is a well maintained children play area, flowers bed, a pond (being refurbished) and a lot of nicely cut grass to laze about on. Very popular with all on sunny days, there is enough space for all. Great place to meet friends, have a picnic, sunbathe and let the kids run around.

There's a burger van in the main car park which does coffees and food. Lovely walk and the lizard ???? trail is about an hour long. It's nice to visit in the different seasons, in order to see the different foliage and plants throughout the seasons... There is a cost for the carpark, unless you're a national trust member.

Extremely picturesque site for plein air artists. It is a bit of a hike from the car park, about 10 minutes, but the view is lovely and fresh. As this was August families were enjoying picnics, and Ripley village - also very pretty and artistic material - is close by. I highly recommend this for a day out.

love the tranquility and space the Black Pond area provides, one of our favourite dog walks in the area!
