The initial pool and temple area near the carpark are quite nice but you will be rewarded if you continue on and climb to the falls. It takes about half an hour to walk and I’d suggest runners because its rocky and a bit slippery. We’re in our mid-50’s with reasonable fitness and the climb is no issue. For the whole way you are surrounded by rainforest and jungle with very few signs of human activity and very little rubbish. Eventually you will reach a wide pool with a sandy shore but continue on for another few minutes to reach the actual falls. There are two large rockpools where you can swim and for most of the time there we had the place to ourselves and didn’t see anyone else. The falls themselves, the large boulders along the riverbed and lush jungle make for a pretty impressive landscape As a bonus there’s a little bar on the way where you can get stop for a drink on the way back.

The waterfall is located north Khao ra view point about 620 m up. Bring swimming gear, enough drinking water and the usual sun protective gear. We were advised food cannot be taken into the park, therefore fill your stomachs beforehand either. The walk from to the fall is approximately 1and half K. meters through nice lush jungle, following the stream of clear water. You do not have to be fit to master the walk, however, people requiring walking aids will not be able to make it unless they are absolutely determined. The path is not paved, it is a natural hiking trail covered with smaller rocks, some steps to climb and tree roots running across. The fall itself is about 30m high and ends in a nice pool for swimming which then flows out as a small creek. Especially after rainfall the current in the creek can be strong, but ropes have been fixed across the creek to hold on to. When we were there the rainy season had just finished and the water was abundant, crystal clear and refreshing. Definitely worth a visit. Plan 3-4 hours a relaxing time out at the water fall.

Go early and you’ll have the place to yourself. It’s a tricky to get too but worth it. Wear closed shoes as it’s a hike up and down & slippery at times. The rock pool is lovely to swim in. Make sure you stop in the chill out cafe on way back, gorgeous gardens, lovely staff and cool bar in the muddle of nowhere. If you’re going to the falls on moped.... it’s not an easy ride as the roads are pretty bad for the last km or so.

We have been there today and paid 20 Baht to park our scooter. That is approximately 50cent and I feel absolutely fine paying this amount for a free activity. The people were friendly and kind and did not seem dangerous at all. The hike took us around 2.5h (we did the big round). The ice cream afterwards war surprisingly cheap, 15baht each. We had a wonderful time! We did the hike in Flip Flops and with children (6 and 10). I recommend to wear proper shoes and bring enough water. We even saw some monkeys!
