The railway station of Nova Gorica that's located right beside the famous Square Transalpina/Trg Evrope at the Slovenian-Italian border, has a new cultural information touchpoint that represents the twin towns, Nova Gorica on the Slovenian side and Gorizia on the Italian side.

A must see in the Solkan valley. The whole place with the monastery, the church, the surroundings is oozing with serenity. The views over the extremely beautiful Slovenian landscape is stunning. It is a Franceskan monastery in "full working order" with active brothers. There is a restaurant, but opening times unknown to me. When we visited in July it was closed during daytime. Maybe open on Sundays. The monastery also has a museum which is open on Sundays in conjunction with the mass. From Nova Gorica it's a mere 20 min ride by car to get uphill. Bus is also available to Grgar, if you'd like to hike up the last 2-3 km. Must see if you're in the Gorizia/Nova Gorica area!

There are some tourist farms on Solcava Panoramic Road, but there is only one church. The same "God's view". If one follows the road by bike, this is an obligatory stop (don't miss the food on nearby farm!

The cathedral bell tower has In the bell tower a fire watch was organized until 1933. There was a little apartment at the top of the tower. The ECOC has in 2012, together with the Maribor Regional Museum, set up a museum collection ''The Guardroom on the tower'', which is easily accessible by climbing 162 steps. At the top of the tower is also an outdoor viewing platform, from where the old town and surroundings can be seen.

Vetrinjski dvor (Vetrinje Mansion) is a multifunctional venue, managed by Narodni dom Maribor and located in a renovated mansion in the historical centre of Maribor. It offers a varied set of spaces to independent creators, artistic projects, festivals, and other cultural initiatives. In 2017, the Art club & cafe Wetrinsky was added into the mansion premises, running a wide-ranging programme from live concerts to dance sessions - not to mention a selection of beers and nice coffee.

Located in Zalec city centre, lovely park with chairs and book shelves. You can hang with your friends and enjoy a glass of typical craft beer (6 different types). Highly recomended :)

Over 450 years old, the upper Vovk mill is the best preserved watermill in the valley. You will find it north of the house at Lokovina 36, known locally as the Vovk homestead. Situated on the right bank of the Temnjaski vrelec stream, the mill was used in the past to grind flour for the Snake Castle.Mostly built out of wood, the mill still boasts original ceilings, something of a rarity in Slovenia
