Bahia (locally [baˈi.ɐ]) is one of the 26 states of Brazil and is located in the northeastern part of the country on the Atlantic coast. It is the 4th-largest Brazilian state by population (after São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro) and the 5th-largest by area. Bahia's capital is the city of Salvador (formerly known as "Cidade do São Salvador da Bahia de Todos os Santos", lit. "City of Holy Saviour of All Saints Bay"), located on a spit of land separating the Bay of All Saints from the Atlantic. Once a monarchial stronghold dominated by agricultural, slaving, and ranching interests, Bahia is now a major manufacturing center whose last three elections have been dominated by the Workers' Party.

The park is very serious about conservation, so you cannot even talk loudly in the cave. They provide a snorkel and goggles to guarantee a wonderful experience. The pool is over 50m deep, but you can clearly see the bottom of the pit. Unforgettable experience.

The 9th largest cave in the world. Amazing, very well preserved and a very cool guide crew, it was truly a fantastic experience. Would strongly recommend visiting it during any stay in Chapada Diamantina. It's by far the most interesting cave I've seen.

Even though swimming is not permitted, it is definitely worth visiting this exquisite cave with waters of an indescribable turquoise hue. Access is pretty easy, and you’ll be welcomed by a family of very friendly marmosets.
