We made our way down to Tangalle specifically to visit this small gallery. The artist is incredibly friendly and talented. He has been recognized within Sri Lanka and has won an international award. His shop was affected by the 2004 Tsunami; he lost 160 paintings. You can see several paintings hanging in the gallery that were recovered after the disaster. We bought two paintings that we felt epitomized our trip to Sri Lanka. Definitely worth a visit if you're in you're in the area.

Stopped by this great place on our way to Kandy! Shaminda has a wonderful collection of rare and precious gems and stones. He is super generous and knowledgeable and very much passionate about his work. Learned a lot from him and left with a brilliant new collection for a very good price. I highly recommend!

Ganeshism is a celebration of Lord Ganesh in art. Set in a beautiful open space in a private house, the gallery sells paintings and reproductions of Lord Ganesh, by artist Mahen Chanmugam. His art communicates the concepts of liberation from ego, acceptance and increased consciousness. The studio also conducts yoga classes & bath/sound therapy, to nourish your inner sense of Self.
Mahen is passionate about his art and will gladly share this passion with you. The paintings are amazing. Very nice family, beautiful gallery in a beautiful house.

Hello Everyone Pethikada Paintings and craft gallery gives unique collection of crafts and mostly paintings. What’s very unique about our art is that most of them are traditional paintings. Mostly from Dambulla Cave temple and other heritage sights. And adding to that we have a wonderful collection of frescoes too. Most of paintings are done on well treated wood and we try to keep authentic nature of the paintings as much as we can. Adding further you don’t have to buy anything from us we appreciate even your visit to our place. Because as a traveler if you are interested about art and authentic traditional art of Sri Lanka we highly recommend you to visit our place so we can give you a quality idea of our country’s painting history with examples. Finally our stall is not gigantic as other galleries and craft shops around the island but we can assure you fulfilling experience if you are an art lover.
Jagath is a very talented artist who was very friendly and explained all the work he was doing. He showed us his work in stages, discussed the conferences he had attended and explained how he can create custom pieces of work and safely have them shipped abroad for us. His art work was amazing and although we did not purchase anything that day he spent a lot of time with us. Highly recommend visiting and buying something unique from here.

Not only was it wonderful to be houseguest in Geoffrey Bawa's Colombo home, but to be looked after by the kindred spirit of Rohana, a 'butler' who served Mr Bawa in his late years too, was absolutely wonderful. What gracious people in that house. I cannot fault anybody for anything. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to study the home and have a really good guided tour on top of it with manager Priyanka and on the side with dear Rohana. thank you!
