Petit Passage Ferry

Reviewed By BkyCa - Key West, United States

Modern, efficient transportation from Freeport, N.S. to Brier Island, N.S.. The trip is short but always on time. The ferry over runs on the hour and the return runs on the half hour. The ferry is new and modern, very clean and holds quite a bit of traffic. There are rest rooms aboard and several workers. The fee is $7.00 over and zero coming back.

It is fantastic that the crew turns right around and comes back if there are too many people lined up to cross. It was so nice to not have to wait an hour for the next crossing. Thank you!!!!

Bay Ferries

Reviewed By Astrid1511 - Fredericton, Canada

We really enjoyed our ferry ride from Digby, NS to Saint John, NB. It was relaxing to sit and have a glass of wine and a sandwich from the cafeteria during this crazy corona virus pandemic. There were very few passengers on board so it was easy to social distance and you must wear a mask in most areas of the ferry. It felt like our own private yacht!! I was able to do my emails and my husband watched TV. The ferry was spotlessly clean and the staff was very helpful and professional. The electrical outlets need an adapter which you can get from the staff. It was expensive but worth it. I would highly recommend taking the ferry.

We took this 5.5 hour Ferry from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia to Portland, Maine after a four week driving / exploring trip from NJ to Arcadia National Park, Price Edward Island,CA, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and Vaughan, Nova Scotia. Taking the ferry saved us many hours of driving as well as backtracking in areas we had already been. We had pre-purchased tickets (which is recommended) a couple of months in advance and we stayed in the Yarmouth area ( actually Arcadia NS) the night before to insure we would be there at 7:30 am check in for an 8:30 am departure. Check in and boarding were easy and all the personnel were friendly and helpful. After parking your vehicle on the ferry all passengers must go to the upper decks for the 5.5 hr passage. We brought our own food for the trip but there were several nice concession stands selling food, snacks and drinks. The passenger deck was clean, nicely decorated with super comfortable reclining seats or seats with tables. Large screen tv's were strategically located. They had movies in a central location and a kids play area. You could get fresh air on the side and rear deck areas. They had a fun bingo and group trivia games which you could join for about 90 minutes in the middle of the trip to entertain and pass the time. Cruise was smooth and enjoyable. Started in a fog bank outside Yarmouth and broke into a nice sunny day in about 2 hours. Upon exiting we got through US Customs in about 15 minutes. This was a bit pricey but an enjoyable experience which saved us from backtracking and many hours of driving. Dan & Karen Old Bridge, NJ
