I did the weeks advanced vegan cooking diploma, and it was easily the best money I’ve ever spent on a cooking course. The facilities are wonderful, you get treated like royalty, the way they care and look after everyone. Helen and Georgia are fantastic as well as all the tutors! So insightful and attentive. The knowledge gained was beyond what I could have imagined and thing that I can adapt and use for life, in so many different ways. They really set the bench mark of what’s vegan cooking can deliver, and if you care about the way the future is going and want to learn how to cook truly exceptional vegan food, you MUST do this course.. it’s really a no brainier!

Fat Hen is a Foraging & Wild Food Cookery School, established in 2007, in West Cornwall, by Caroline Davey. Fat Hen's bespoke hand crafted kitchen and teaching space is located in a restored granite barn on a farm in Cornwall. Beautiful natural materials including oak, slate and ash have been used alongside state of the art stainless steel equipment sponsored by SMEG & KENWOOD. The school offers unique foodie courses for people who want to get back to the original source of their food. Whether it be foraging for seaweeds and herbs, butchering venison or cooking crab to perfection, Fat Hen provides courses in all aspects of foraging and cooking wild food. If you can forage it, fish it or hunt it, we will show you how to cook it. Run by Caroline Davey in collaboration with our talented chefs, Fat Hen's Gourmet Wild Food Weekend has been chosen by the Saturday Telegraph as one of the best sustainable living courses in the UK.
Two events at Fat Hen: a seriously class act A birthday weekend, my wife went on a seaweed foraging and cooking day with 9 others and we booked Fat Hen’s ‘Crab-on-the-Beach’ offer on the following day for ourselves and 4 friends. Both events were superb. Foraging and learning about lava, gutweed, sea lettuce and the like made for an enchanting morning; watching and sharing cooking and eating a seaweed based meal more than fulfilled my wife’s dreams for the day. Something of a foodie, she was hoping for some excellent knowledge - an improved understanding of seaweed. She more than received this. (That we live 2.5 hours from the nearest coast is now our only slight challenge…) Crab-on-the-Beach took place on a September Saturday amidst non-stop sunshine. Caroline (Davey – the force behind Fat Hen) had set up a fire, tripod, wooden benches and table in a perfect spot on Sennen Beach – and brought with her a brown crab each to eat and some spider crabs to play around with. Cooked gently in an iron pot over the fire, cooled and then broken up and eaten, the eating of crab on the beach offered us one of life’s rich memories. Seaweed mayonnaise, partially foraged salad (my wife is now very excited by rock samphire) and homemade bread rolls just added to the pleasure. We can’t recommend this more warmly!

What a fabulous hosts Leslie Waters and her team Caz and Steve were today for our Divas demonstration lunch. It’s great entertainment as well as a teaching forum and of course the bonus of eating it all after. Double yum! I’ll definitely be making all the delicious foods demo’d today. Lesley and Caz were so friendly, approachable and informative you felt you were in a chum’s kitchen. Absolutely lovely day, I’ll definitely be back for more. Pleasure to share the day with Penny, Betsy, Helen, Rosemary, Jacky, and Amy.

A family run cooking school established in 2006 and overlooking the River Dart. We specialise in Bread, Fish, Mediterranean and Asian Cuisines and Wood-fired Oven Cooking. Holiday times will feature Family Classes aimed at inspiring youngsters to cook. Our classes are small, friendly, very much hands on and designed to inspire both budding and experienced cooks to explore new areas and expand their repertoires.
I booked onto the Mastering your oven course in the hope that not only would it help with my pizza disasters but also give me additional ideas for my oven. This course did not disappoint! From arrival there was a warm welcome from Holly and David, we were provided with copious amounts of coffee and tea. After brief introductions the cooking began and we were fed throughout the day with amazing food all cooked in the wood fired oven. In addition, we made our own pizza dough which we were expertly guided through at every stage and shown how to shape like the experts (well David made it look easy anyway). Having made our own pizzas we were then treated to a full lunch! And pud! (With wine for those not driving). From booking the course, communication has been great and we were taught in an easy going humorous manner by clearly very knowledgable masters in their field. David who for our day was front of house managed to answer all questions fired at him whilst Holly worked tirelessly prepping all of the food in the background. I do not hesitate in recommending anyone attending one of Manna of Devon courses if you want to get the best out of your oven - you will go home with the confidence to tackle anything. Thank you both for a great experience.

Amazing class and top staff. I did the artisan bread making class and I can say was fab! Dez, Amy and the boys were very friendly and professional. Dez shows us how to make tasty bread and especially made it look nice! We had lunch and we took home all our creations. Thank you Flavours School of Cookery for the experience!

the class was well organised and well set out. My husband and I loved the bread making class and the cinnamon buns were delicious. I suggest a white board is needed to write the recipes on so bakers can see the difference in quantities, I look forward to going on another course soon.
