Our brewery starts its story in 1984 when Robert Morton Limited from Burton upon Trent, United Kingdom, were commissioned to design and supply a classic, showpiece brewery for Gold Reef City, Johannesburg, capable of accommodating complex stepped mashing, and capable of brewing all beer styles. The brewery was manufactured, shipped to South Africa, and established in Barney’s Tavern in 1985, where it stood on show as a working brewery for 9 years. Then, in 1993 the brewery was relocated to The World of Beer in Newtown, Johannesburg, as a working showpiece pub brewery. Due to liquor licensing issues, the brewery was ‘mothballed’ indefinitely in Garankuwa. The derelict brewery was then purchased by Brewhogs and completely refurbished in 2013, and re-established in Kyalami, where it stands today. With our current expansion, the 3000 liter brewery now has the capacity to produce in excess of 40 000 liters per month, and even further expansion plans on the table. Watch this space!

Some of the best pizza around. Excellent beers with a selection for novice to serious stout types. Here you’ll find great hospitality, food that’s simplistic but not shy on flavor which mimics the excellent beers. Saison and Amber being a winner for me. Prices much like the rest of Barrydale are conservative rather than cosmopolitan. A must for the love of beer and a local brew (coffee too)

I would describe it as a beer adventure with yummy food. It’s not a 5 star experience it is so much better. This is as local as you can get with knowledgeable staff who are cheerful and happy to help you make decisions if your not sure. We did the beer tasting which I recommend before buying a full glass of something. Try something new. I’d also suggest calling before you go to check if there are any events they where preparing for an all nighter party when we went so we had some DJ music to go with our experience. I loved it. Secure car parking also available. A bit of a drive but worth the experience. Outdoor seating only, so check the weather.

Experience the atmosphere and stature of the Van Ryn's Brandy Distillery where the tour of the distillery includes a demonstration of the art of coopering, a whiff of the Angle's share in the maturation cellar, followed by the guest's choice of vintage brandy tastings. The choice of tastings include an option of a brandy, coffee and chocolate tasting or a brandy and florentine tasting. The distillery is also a popular venue for private functions and conferences.
We have visited here before...and each time we enjoy the ambience (with the leather chairs and large pot still) and the brandy. We did the brandy and chocolate tasting with included three brandies (10. 15 and 20 year old) paired with three chocolates. We loved the 15 year old the best. We were treated to a sample of the 30 year old. Definitely very good...but perhaps just a bit beyond what we were willing to spend.

Remhoogte Wine Estate is a family owned and run winery on the slopes of the Simonsberg, enjoy our fine wines while admiring the beautiful Stellenbosch mountains and the wild life camp stocked with Zebra, Black Wildebeest and Springbok. We also offer delicious cheese platters and have our own craft beer available by the bottle.
In need of an escape . . . ? This quiet little wine estate with its protected valley, Zebra, Wildebeest and Springbok is ideal. The Zebra Lodge is quaint and well appointed - with great scenery and a fire place to take away the evening chill on a rainy weekend

Stellenbrau has a modern world class brewing facility, and boasts a fantastic taproom where you can enjoy an ice cold beer. We would like to welcome you to come for a tour to see the behind the scenes work of the brewery.
Great value for a tasting paddle, followed by your preferred brewski. The limited range does not detract, in fact helps with the overall enjoyment of appreciating 4 superbly crafted brews. Suggest you arrive after having a small meal or couple of snacks. A must do when visiting Stellies!!

We came here to have a bite to eat after our afternoon horse ride. What a good idea to stop. We had a pizza and it was prepared and cooked to perfection. Really enjoyed it!

The Home of Great South African Beer - Since 1820. Visit us, tour the brewery and taste our award-winning beers. Nestled at the foot of Devil's Peak and neighbour to the historic rugby & cricket grounds, is the oldest operating brewery in South Africa and the home of great South African beer - Newlands Brewery. Lovers of delicious, natural refreshment are invited to experience a taste of brewing history, followed by a look into modern-day brewing methods, by joining a fully guided tour of Newlands Brewery. The tour follows the journey of beer from its beginning as a grain, to its end as a well crafted, ice-cold treasure, fittingly ending with a beer tasting and a couple of pints in the brewery's historic underground pub.
I booked the visit for my husband and we both really enjoyed the experience. Very well organised throughout , from booking , being issued with a car parking pass , to the tour and beer tasting and of course the pub ! Would definitely recommend.
