Lake Jindabyne

We enjoyed the hospitality of the Jindabyne parkrun with impressive views over Lake Jindabyne. This parkrun is very popular with tourists and the local volunteers do a great job in organising the event. This is an impressive body of water and offers a range of water sports. The bird life around the lake is also abundant. Thanks for your vote.

Tumut River

I dropped my friend off upstream so that he could raft down the river. Apparently you can raft 20km in 3 hours. Anyway I spotted him at the banks of the council campground - a beautiful spot - and he kept going till just before the bridge over the Snowy Mts hwy. The river was deep and fast with swirls in it. Not for the faint hearted. Sitting by the banks was very enjoyable!

Lake Eucumbene

Lake Eucumbene in the beautiful Snowy Mountains is located around 40 kilometres from Cooma at its closest point. It sits at an elevation of 1200 metres above sea level making it a pristine alpine lake. The closest town to Lake Eucumbene is Adaminaby. The dam construction was finished in 1958 creating the largest of the Snowy Scheme lakes. It holds around nine times the volume of water that Sydney Harbour does. This lake is one of the best fisheries in the Australian Highlands holding rainbow trout, brown trout and atlantic salmon, the lake is regularly re-stocked with trout by NSW Fisheries which makes it a mecca for trout fishermen. In the summer months there is a wide spectrum of sporting, freshwater fishing and tourist activities that are available all year round in the Snowy Mountains region of the Mount Kosciusko National Park.

Great for boating and fishing. Though my son didn’t catch any fish despite hours of fishing. Lake 37% full when we were there so could see some older buildings coming out of the lake. Boat ramp still works at that level and it must be at least 100m long.
