Nika's Tiny House

Ever since the local artist Nika Domnik first opened this shop in 2015, thousands of little houses were bought by tourists and taken all around the world. Nika's tiny house is known for hand crafted products made from driftwood and creative workshops for youth, making her one of the most exciting and recognizable artists in Piran. Her attelier is a minute away from Tartini squre.

This place is so much more than just some regular souvenir shop. In Nika’s atelier you can see whole process how all these tiny beautiful houses and other souvenirs are made. Nika is very friendly, and we had very nice chat with her. You can spend a lot of time here, since every piece is unique and very precise piece of hand made artwork made of driftwood. You just gotta se them all and you will want to buy them all too! :) If you fell in love with Piran, and want to bring a piece of it back home with you, visiting Nika’s atelier is a must! Just one look at these tiny houses will immediately bring you back to the magical streets of this beautiful city :))

We found the museum fascinating. The receptionist was extremely helpful with how to navigate around the museum. The iPad added a lot of historical context to the visit. Everything is clearly marked and well displayed.

We took a walk between the cute and clean streets of Izola to the House of the Sea Izolana, where we learned some interesting things about the history of Izola, mainly its shipbuilding and fishing industries. Inside you can find cool handmade models of ships, and the black-and-white photographs on the wall tell stories of the old days.
