The only Museum of Shells in Slovenia and other interesting animals from ALL OVER THE WORLD!More than 4000 specimens of unusual and rare molluscs! The biggest clam in the world, pearls, crabs, sea urchins, sea stars. You can see the shell of the biggest snail in the world, shells of snails so rare that only tribal chiefs of distant islands were allowed to wear and many more surprises ...
It was great, unique experience. They really know a lot about shells and the ticket includes interesting lectures about the museum. Our seven years old son has constantly asked questions and he’s got answer to each one of them. We have learn a lot. We recommend!

Ever since the local artist Nika Domnik first opened this shop in 2015, thousands of little houses were bought by tourists and taken all around the world. Nika's tiny house is known for hand crafted products made from driftwood and creative workshops for youth, making her one of the most exciting and recognizable artists in Piran. Her attelier is a minute away from Tartini squre.
This place is so much more than just some regular souvenir shop. In Nika’s atelier you can see whole process how all these tiny beautiful houses and other souvenirs are made. Nika is very friendly, and we had very nice chat with her. You can spend a lot of time here, since every piece is unique and very precise piece of hand made artwork made of driftwood. You just gotta se them all and you will want to buy them all too! :) If you fell in love with Piran, and want to bring a piece of it back home with you, visiting Nika’s atelier is a must! Just one look at these tiny houses will immediately bring you back to the magical streets of this beautiful city :))

We found the museum fascinating. The receptionist was extremely helpful with how to navigate around the museum. The iPad added a lot of historical context to the visit. Everything is clearly marked and well displayed.

When planning your visit to Piran, you are invited to all the experiences offered by the Mediadom Pyrhani. It is a newly opened cultural centre and a multimedia museum in which the latest technology introduces the history and cultural development of the town. Also the future connects many paths leading to Piran to meet in the Mediadom Pyrhani, where you are invited to take a ride on our time machine taking you through 20 centuries, from the antique times to today’s Piran. In the all-purpose hall, suitable not only for lectures, but also for film shows or concerts, there is room for 50 visitors, who are by the help of modern technology capable of experiencing highly educational and cultural contents.
Thank you so much for a great visit to your museum. It always feels good to learn more about the place you visit, and Piran is really a historical pearl reflecting European history ages back. Well presented in the Mediadom Pyrhani. Recommended to all visitors of Piran.

We took a walk between the cute and clean streets of Izola to the House of the Sea Izolana, where we learned some interesting things about the history of Izola, mainly its shipbuilding and fishing industries. Inside you can find cool handmade models of ships, and the black-and-white photographs on the wall tell stories of the old days.
