This is one of our most photogenic tours. We fly over the coastline and Skeiðarársandur, a vast plain of black sand and ash covered with numerous small rivulets. It spans the entire range between the glacier and the sea. From there we fly over Skeiðarárjökull, a massive outlet glacier draining south from Iceland´s largest ice cap Vatnajökull.

We had a wonderful experience on the Blue Dragon Ice Cave Tour with Atlantsflug. First, leading up to the tour Atlantsflug was very responsive to all of my emails. The tour itself was really great, a beautiful helicopter ride over the glacier and a 1hr tour through two amazing ice caves. One huge benefit of this tour is that the ice cave is not easy to access by foot or car so you don't have large crowds, in our experience we were the only people there. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun and unique experience.

We had a great tour with our guide Patrice. He offered good knowledge of the ice cave and also gave us a lot of freedom to roam and take pictures. The cave is wonderful and very colorful. The hike in the sun to get to the cave was very enjoyable and easy as well. We definitly recommend Local Guides and the Sapphire cave !

Most memorable experience out of my 8 days in Iceland! We were a party of 3 and our guide Katerina was simply the best! She was very knowledgeable about glaciers in and out of Iceland, very safety-conscious, and offered to take many excellent pictures. I left the tour feeling very grateful that I could get up close to the World’s third-biggest glacier that is not expected to exist in another 100-120 years. Being in such a small group also meant that we had plenty of opportunity to talk about many other topics and received a local’s insight to touring Iceland. Another bonus from the tour- joy ride over rough, undulating terrain leading up to the start of the glacier hike. Taking you further in than most others. The team behind Melrakki Adventures were quick to respond to our last-minute request to reschedule… twice! Thank you Katerina and team for the second-to-none experience.
