Buffalo Mountain Trail

Reviewed By mikegK3848JX

I give the title because there's nothing extraordinary about my fitness, and the climb doesn't have any specific elements that cannot be accomplished. Now doing the totality of the climb? ...that's going to vary from person to person. It's definitely a lower body workout. I'm a 51 year old father joining up with my 25 year old son. Neither of us are experienced at real mountain trails/hikes, but are in adequate shape to take on the challenge. Left at 6:20am (to get a parking spot and cool temps). We tend to be Point A to Point B kind of people, but that works just fine in an uphill climb because nothing goes by too fast. The first section of wooded trails was a nice workout. We were longing to get to section 2...the boulder field. There are helpful cairns to guide you through 'best options' as you zigzag a little...but about half way up, we just opted for a straight-up climb. Only saw one mountain goat at the top of the boulder field (we thought to see a herd)...not sure if time of day has anything to do with that. We'd only been in the altitude of Silverthorne for a couple days, so that may have affected how we felt. The last section is essentially a rock meadow, but still a very uphill climb. We made it to the summit in 2 hours (including many pics and snack breaks along the way), stayed at the top for 25 minutes, and descended in 1 1/2 hours. Again, in the boulder field, we primarily opted for our own straight down path (saving some time, but putting ourselves in less secure footing quite often0. So for us, it was less than 4 hours (including 25 minutes at the top). Don't have much to compare it to in terms of other mountain climbing experiences...but for us, it was well worth it (and we're no worse for the wear). The views were as we had hoped.

Excellent hike for families of all ages with beautiful vistas. Bring water and a snack so you can enjoy the lake before the return trip. We walked around the lake and kept our dog on the leash as required. There is a $125.00 fine of dogs are off leash.

I had the best time on my snowmobile tour with Josh as my guide. The scenery is breathtaking...it felt like I was in a different country. I was literally in awe for most of the ride. Josh showed us the continental divide, took us to the hot chocolate cabin, and through a beautiful canopy of pine trees (I'm thankful he reminded us to smell the trees - little moments like these can easily get overlooked). He explained the different animal markings on the trees (he has some interesting bear stories). The ride was really fun, but I felt completely safe. My favorite part was getting towed up the mountain and tubing down. You won't regret using HCT! 5 stars.

We shopped around and Blue Valley was less than half of many of their competitors for comparable packages. They were 40% less than the cheapest alternative. We rented 4 premium packages with helmets online and were supplied with almost brand new skis and boots. The staff was friendly and helpful and the price was exactly what I was quoted online. We’ve rented from a shop across the road from River Run for years, but if prices remain the same next year, we’ll happily use Blue Valley again.

The Raven At Three Peaks

Reviewed By simmons46802 - Fort Wayne, United States

This course is what I imagined a mountain course would be like. The elevation changes were intense and the views were breathtaking with the aspens changing color. I gained over 100 yds on my drive on hole 9 which features a 150 ft drop from tee to fairway. The staff were friendly and helpful. The course wasn't green and lush like courses in Indiana, but that's due to the near desert-like conditions of the area. Even still the greens were very green and in pretty good shape. Clubhouse is elegant but food and drinks are a bit pricey. Overall, I would highly recommend this course.
