The highest award is the Silver Ribbon ('Nastro d'Argento' in Italian). The award ceremonies and films are presented in a centuries-old Greek theatre that soars 206 metres above the sea. From food and wine show to international festival of cultural integration, it has become an event that celebrates friendship and brotherhood between peoples. It was in 1998, towards the end of the summer, when a small town in the province of Trapani hosted an event dedicated to cous cous, a traditional dish in the local area, which was widespread in the Maghreb but almost unknown in the rest of Italy. We have been going to festival since 2013, we havent been every single year but love to plan for every few years. We have also been outside of the festival and loved that too. Took friends one year and that was so fab. I loved sharing my excitement with them. The first year was crazy, we couldnt get a seat in any bar, but met some awesome people and still had fun. The following festival we went to we literally had a back stage seat in a bar and mingled with famous celebrities until the wee small hours. The last time we went it was held on the beach and not so inclusive, but still brilliant. Yeah its expensive, but festivals are, if you dont want that dont go at that time. It’s part of our life now
