Very evocative statue of Wilfred Owen, one of the great poets of The First World War. Some of his poetry is actually engraved on the statue. Very thought provoking and well worth a walk to look at it.

Shrewsbury Library is a busy lending library housed in a Grade I listed building situated on Castle Gates near Shrewsbury Castle. The site was the home of Shrewsbury School from 1550 until 1882. The buildings were handed over to the town in 1882 and a free library and museum were opened by in 1885. Charles Darwin was taught here and his statue still sits proudly in the front courtyard.

Whilst the hill is quite high compared to the surroundings you can drive most of the way and then walk the last hundred yards up to the monument, its not difficult but there is no disabled access. On a clear sunny day you can see for miles.

We came across this very imposing Monument on a walkabout in Bridgnorth, the Monument is in a lovely park and it looks out towards the famous `Severn Valley Railway` across the valley. We took many photographs of the Monument and also of the Railway from a great vista point just in front of the Monument.

The Lord Hills Column is an iconic Shrewsbury landmark. You used to be able to get keys to up to the top in the Shirehall, I dont know whether you still can.
