After a much longer hike the day before, we wanted a shorter, easier one for our last day. Since this one is right next to Skyland where we we're staying, it was perfect. In short, it is easy to find the trail head, there was ample parking (at 10am), and it was a pretty easy hike up to the best view I have seen yet in the park. All in all I think it took is about an hour round trip, with about 15 minutes standing at the top. Highly recommended!

Go ahead, get carried away...at Bear Mountain Ziplines in Luray, VA. Our Mama Bear Zipline tour includes 7 ziplines, for a total of 2700 ft of line racing through the forest canopy at up to 35 miles an hour. The last 1000 ft stretch brings you out over a meadow to land on the tower above our 3-story Bear Scramble climbing wall. Your trip starts with a rustic ride up a mountain road behind the tractor, where you’ll get comfortable with the zipline safety gear and procedures on the training zipline. Our professional guides have all been trained according to Association of Challenge Course (ACCT) requirements. We can confidently offer a safe as well as invigorating experience. We also offer a Bear Scramble climbing wall. Scramble up our 3-story climbing wall to ring the bell at the top. Our wall has multiple ascent paths and accommodates two climbers at a time, so you can come with a group and race your friends to the top! Access to the wall is available in half-hour increments, giving users many chances to improve their times, or try out a trickier path up. We use a state-of-the-art auto-belay system, allowing climbers to use the wall unassisted and rappel down under supervision by our certified guides. Please note that participants must weigh between 70 and 250 lbs and be at least 8 years of age to participate in the Mama Bear Zipline tour. The Bear Scramble can accommodate guests who weigh between 50 and 300 lbs.

We were first time riders and the experience at star B stables was amazing. The guide was very nice and explained everything well. The horses were calm and very sweet. If you’re looking for a day out with family or friends, this is a great horseback riding place around. The pricing is very reasonable. I felt very safe in my experience and we all had a great time. Please give them a try. We’ll definitely be back soon!!

We were so excited to be able to take the 1.5 hour trail ride! We had two adults and three teens/tweens in our group. This was a wish come true for our 11 year old! Charles met us at the barn and helped us get ready for the ride. The horses were beautiful! Kurt was a great trail guide and answered many questions along the way. We were so happy to have found the Royal Horseshoe Farm. The kids are already asking about a return trip!

Be sure to go the distance because the view is amazing. You will hike to a summit which has an awesome view but be sure to continue along the ridge to the actual buzzard rock location. Look for the path the continues upward (almost doubling back but climbing the ridge). Bring water. Oh, and yes, good luck with the parking.

This 6,659-yard, William Flynn-designed golf course winds through Virginia's majestic Allegheny Mountains and is known for its gorgeous scenery and challenging layout.
Great course, ton of history associated with it ! One of the most picturesque courses I have ever played. Building that houses the pro shop, is really neat and Lee ( the starter ) is a nice man with a ton of stories to share. A little pricey, but buck up and pay the money, you'll be glad you did !
