At Fernando Po village, in Setubal wine region, wine is a part of everyday life. Traditionally sold at the cellar door, it was sought by families from all over Portugal. There they used to share stories and snacks. And become friends. It is this spirit that Fernao Po Winery seeks to maintain until today. Our philosophy is simple: to create the perfect wine for your table. Welcome!

It’s at a peaceful and wild beauty landscape, where nature and tranquility merge, that the Brejinho wines are produced. Under the best portuguese sun, joined by the close Atlantic and a sandy soil, you’ll find truly unforgettable wines…

The history of Quinta do Monte Alegre is written on the sandy paths of the distinguished wine region of the Setubal Peninsula, in the geographical area of Fernando Po, at the heart of the wine-producing plain of the municipality of Palmela. With the constant evolution of technology and the monitoring of new consumption trends, the range of the initial supply of Quinta do Monte Alegre wines was extended to include the production of mono-varietal wines. Then, a selection of "Reserva" certified multi-varietal wines, produced from lots specially selected by a rigorous qualitative process, was launched. Recently the production of generous wines with the certification "Moscatel de Setubal D.O.C." and "Moscatel Roxo de Setubal D.O.C.". Quinta do Monte Alegre currently produces an annual average of 700,000 L of wine and is recognized as having an appreciated portfolio of wines that has won in the last 15 years multiple awards and honors in national and international competitions.

We had a wonderful 3 hours at this vineyard, shown round by the owner Luis who is the 5 th generation of the original founders his great grandparents. If you are both interested in good wine and protecting the environment don’t hesitate to arrange a visit. The delicious petiscos were a bonus!

We booked a visit to the winery and palace without knowing what to expect. We were welcomed by very nice people and a great guide Rafael Andrade who just made our day! With the patience of a teacher and the energy of a young man he made history of the palace and winery fun and easy to understand . He also was the one to present us the wines afterwards and he definitely knows about wine! Thank you Rafael! Hope to see you soon again

Jose Maria da Fonseca is one of Portugal's largest and most prestigious wine companies, begun in 1834 and run with undiminished passion since that date by the same family. The winery is in the charming village of Vila Nogueira de Azeitao, where visitors are welcome to tour the museum and cellars where many of Fonseca's wines are aged, including Periquita, Portugal oldest red wine. Another must-see is the Setubal Moscatel cellar, in which wines as old as the company itself slumber in their hallowed and tranquil vault. These Moscatels belong to the private collection of the Soares Franco family, of whom the sixth generation now heads the company. The tour ends with a wine tasting. At the Wine Shop you may buy that special wine or gourmet regional product for a friend.Tours occurs everyday from 10.00am to 12.00, and from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.
We were treated to an exceptionally well researched and presented tour by Carolina on Saturday. Her depth of knowledge about the family, the wines and Portugal as a whole was admirable and her warmth and hospitality made us feel at home. Highly recommended!
