Walking through the old Barreiro, we find a public garden and a band-stand, both from the 20s, in the XX century. A garden with Jacarandas, Tipuanas trees, Bella-Sombras and a lake. It’s the oldest garden in Barreiro. The band-stand, built by the City Hall of Barreiro, reuses the old street lighting columns, linking us to the strong associativism lived at the time.

This market has a reputation of being the best in Europe. There is always a great variety of freshly caught fish and the market is very unusual with it's murals of typical, Portuguese tiles. Local cheeses are quite delicious especially fresh sheep or goats cheeses.
