Private house. The conversion was the subject of two one-hour episodes of TV's Restoration Man. This gets shown all over the world and we have been privileged to welcome people who have seen the programme in their home countries. During 2020 we are having building work done in the grounds which will therefore be a building site, not open to the public. However, if you have come half way round the world to see the place do please come and ring the doorbell on the off chance. Just now though COVID restrictions apply of course.

Found this industrial heritage on a walk between Stainforth and Lancliffe. Various information boards and trails. Also some audio exhibits of interviews with past workers. Paths can be slippy if wet. There is a car park but not easy to locate - you need to go under the railway off the main road. Highly recommended, giving an insight into the industrial heritage of the area. Walking inside the kiln chambers is impressive.

A peaceful and relaxing walk south of Settle: a kingfisher shot out from under the bridge as I walked down to the stile on Station Road, which made a lovely start to the walk. The path is well-defined (and not too muddy when I went) and follows the river bank looking across to trees in their autumn colours. Further on there were lovely views of Penyghent and Ingleborough as you walk through fields of contented cows. It is quiet here even when there are more visitors further north of Settle.
