Sendai (仙台市, Sendai-shi, Japanese: [seꜜndai]) is the capital city of Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, the largest city in the Tōhoku region, and the second largest city north of Tokyo. Rinno-ji temple and the Japanese Garden is certainly a gem in Sendai. I took the train from Sendai station three stops to Kitayama station and then walked the last 15 minutes. The temple is very tranquil and serene. For 300 yen you can go into the Japanese garden which is a must. The pagoda, whilst relatively new, is such a lovely monument, and complements the pond and gardens beautifully. I had the place to myself and it was a real treat and worth the small effort to get there.
