Things to do in Seattle, Washington (WA): The Best Historic Sites

December 19, 2021 Timmy Ribble

In Seattle you simply can’t skip the Central Public Library – a modern architectural marvel of glass grids, unusual shapes, and a “book spiral” that climbs four stories. Stroll over to Pike Place Market to visit the original Starbucks and play catch with a fishmonger. In the heart of the city lies Chihuly Garden and Glass, which will dazzle you with its colorful and delicate works. Glide to the top of the Space Needle for panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and Puget Sound.

West Point Lighthouse

Beautiful old lighthouse within huge Discovery Park. Beautiful views in every direction. We hiked from the visitors center, and the hike was pretty long, but not difficult if you don't mind elevations at some areas. Unfortunately, we couldn't find any information about the lighthouse, so we got it online. Be sure to take water if you plan to hike as we couldn't find any to buy. There was a water fountain near the lighthouse.

Kurt Cobain's Seattle House

Reviewed By KristenBClem

I drove by Viretta Park and took a quick stop. It’s a nice area. Easy to get to. Parking is very easy- go slightly south of the park and park along the street on the water side. “The Bench” in the park is a humbling experience. Lots of different meaningful graffiti to read. If Grunge music or Nirvana or Kurt Cobain were a part of your life, it’s worth a visit.

Beautiful central train station with exquisite architecture. I would recommend visiting even if you don't plan on taking the train. Definitely worth a stop.
