Take genuineness. Add Nature. Finally, a drop of originality. Welcome to the Chèvrerie de Villarenger ! We are an equestrian farm with goats, chicken, horses and ponies. What do we do ? - With goats, we make our own farm cheeses (sérac, tomme, chèvre frais). During 5 months, they stay on mountain pastures total freedom. After a 4x4 ride to the mountain, You will be welcome to discover this wide open space with the shepherds, who will explain their traditionnal job. You'll be able to take on a share on feeding goats and milking. Families will love it ! At the end, we offer you our farm snack, based on our cheeses, with local and organic food. - With horses and ponies, you'll take a ride in the mountains. With a professionnal guide, no matter if you're beginner or confirmed, an adult or a child. - Edible wild plants : we'll take a short walk to pick up some plants. Back at the farm we'll cook together and enjoy it ! - Farm snacks : once again, full of tradition and originality.
I visited this farm with two friends today to go on a 2 hour ride. Having not ridden on a horse for many years, I was rather anxious, but we had a wonderful experience. Our guide was delightful, she was very encouraging and gave us clear instructions to remind us how to control our horses. We had beautiful views of the mountains and valleys, we watched a shepherd herding his sheep with his dogs, and saw the farm’s goats in the high pasture. Again our guide was really informative pointing out places, buildings, plants and animals. We all thoroughly enjoyed our experience and can highly recommend this place.

Chambery old town is a small area of medieval buildings, mostly houses set amid hidden courtyards and narrow passages. Several of the houses have towers housing spiral staircases - the higher the tower the more important was the family! There are short stretches of the old fortified town walls and some lovely arcades (rue de Boigne). The old town has many bars and restaurants as well as interesting shops, including traditional chocolatiers and cheese mongers. It is well worth a stroll for an hour or so and a drink or meal. If arriving by car, park in one of the big car parks and walk from there.

Just walk off the ski lift "la Ramasse" for half an hour and you will find this gem of a view... It's cold up there so be sure to equip yourself acording to weather conditions.
