Nagasaki Prefectural Saikaibashi Park

This park is lovely even if you aren't going there with children. The foliage and views of the water are very beautiful. You can see the Saikai bridges from the overlooks. There are several kid friendly things including a sledding hill (plastic grass), a small zip ride, etc. However I think most of those activities are weekend only. All in all a good place to spend some outdoor time.

Meganeiwa

I took the Midori Huis Ten Bosch Ltd Express train from Hakata Station to Sasebo station using my 3 day unlimited JR North Kyushu Rail Pass. After wandering around town a bit, I rode the local Matsuura Tetsudo Railway from NakaSasebo station ( high up a long narrow flight of stairs ) to Sempukuji station. From there I set off on foot to find Spectacles Rock. Luckily I have basic Japanese language skills and I was able to ask some locals for directions. It was a bit of a walk. But with their help and my Android phone's Google maps, I found the place. I was speechless. An awe-inspiring sight. It was a little creepy, like a huge human skull. Truly a sight never to be forgotten.
