Saquarema is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. Its population is 83,750 and its area is 353,566 km². It is located almost 73 km east of Rio de Janeiro. It was known as Brazil's surfing capital.

This beach is very scenic, clean, and easily accessed. The sands are a beautiful white soft sand. The beach slopes down at a fairly steep slope more towards the water as this is definitely a surfers area. Looking up the beach to the west, you can see the iconic church siting high up on the rock peninsula. There is an excellent restaurant / bar Casa da Praia with great food and drink - wifi too. Don't miss it.
