Water Encounters Santarem is the merging of two giants with an intriguing image and one of the most beautiful and surprising event of the nature between the Amazon River and Tapajos Rivers known as “Encounter of the waters in Santarem” This spectacle can be observed daily from a certain distance, including from the riverfront of Santarem. However, to contemplate more properly, it is better to get very close to observe, as the scenery is really stunning, so much so that some of our clients lose control (in a good way, of course) and even jump in the water to feel their skin. The difference between the two rivers. In one of these opportunities, we heard that “It is simply a wonderful sensation, because the water in the Amazon is denser, as if it is heavier and hotter, whereas the Tapajos water is lighter and cooler”. So, do you want to try it?

Getting to know a well-preserved Amazon forest was a dream come true with Karlos and his crew. Top-notch service from booking the short trip to the end of the activity. First, Selvagem tours is punctual. We started the trip at the time previously set, unlike many other tour companies in Brazil. Second, the small ship we took was a very comfortable and safe one, a much different experience when compared to the speedboats available from other tour companies. Third, the whole experience was very well organized as far as timing was concerned. There was well allotted time for each activity, giving us time to enjoy everything without rushing. Also, everything written on the site is also true. From the availability of “caipirinhas” onboard to the beauty we see on our walk on the Flona. The pricing is also absolutely fair. There was a little glitch on my credit card and Karlos was superb getting it all solved ASAP. In other words, unforgettable experience with a very competent and reliable crew. Definitely do it again when I bring my parents to Alter do Chão.

It was a great time in the city last summer, my tour guide - Vini is so nice. He has passion to become the best tour guide, he has the knowledge of country’s history and the architecture. Although the travel time is just for few weeks, I tried many new things and experience the city in different ways. Thank you so much for showing me such a beautiful city in my journey. Our boat is very spacious and has good ventilation. Our tour lasts longer and has focus on wildlife observation and the closest contact with nature. Safe bottled drinks are served as well as cashew nuts, brazil nuts, fresh fruit, beer and caipirinhas. We use smaller boats to explore shallower areas and creeks and these also get us closer to wildlife. I am very experienced in this area, having worked as lecturer on ships and I also contributed to some of the best History books, namely The thief at the end of the world by Joe Jackson, Fordlandia by Greg Grandin. In addition, we give away a booklet with great photographs of the wildlife to be observed. It can be useful during your entire Amazon cruise. My grand father moved here in 1850s and dealt with confederates and Victorian naturalists. All this creates a perfect atmosphere for a great time in the short period of time you stay in my hometown.

I recommend the trip with Gil Serique. You can be sure that there will be a lot of very interesting stories about the PARA region, wonderful stories about the biodiversity of the Amazon. My husband and I decided to take a few days trip around the Amazon. Initially, we considered the trip from Manaus or Santarem. I can definitely recommend Santarem, which is a very charming little town. Unlike Manaus, it's enough to drive a few kilometers out of town to see the beautiful nature. We spent less than two days at Gil`s house, who lives in the charming Alter do Chao. Due to the events taking place, it is necessary to visit the town square both during the day and in the evening. In the center you can get unique jewelry and regional products both from local sellers and in the gallery. Gil took us to the Tapajos National Forest, where we could explore the unique species of trees and animals for us all day. Alex - a guide from the Park demonstrated to us, among others how the rubber was collected. In the clearing in the National Park we slept in hammocks, at night we heard the voices of the howler monkeys very loudly. We saw a beautiful starry sky over the Amazon (if you have a telescope, be sure to take it). We have never seen so many stars of the Milky Way so clearly. We were also on a full-day Amazon cruise with overnight stay. Gil gave us valuable advice and helped us buy tickets for a cruise on the Amazon from Santarem to Manaus. A wonderful addition - worth every price - was the food prepared by Sal. This guy really has great culinary talent. I highly recommend the trip with Gil!
Maica and the Tapajos National forest are the only pristine places in the area. Both are under threat, both are historical sites. So the tour is about enjoying nature at the best, learning about the history of bot places and understanding current environmental issues. The best representatives of local wildlife are guaranteed, sloths and dolphins We provide Leicas and my new guide-book in order to enjoy wildlife at best
