Nestled between the shrub-covered slopes of the Santa Ynez Mountains and the clear blue shores of the Pacific Ocean, Santa Barbara is California at its best. Mission Santa Barbara is an example of 18th-century religious architecture, boasting beautiful grounds and a wonderfully detailed interior. Work up an appetite with a walk through Shoreline Park, then dine above the water on Stearns Wharf. Fig trees, parks, waterfalls, and botanical gardens round out Santa Barbara’s natural beauty.

Market Forays offers Locavore Cooking Classes and Culinary Adventures for leisure travelers. Sustainable Team Building Events for Corporate Groups. Private Chef Services. Our classes are built around the freshest seasonal local ingredients, combined with a playful attitude that draws on my French upbringing, enriched by the cuisines of the many countries I have visited and by California's own multicultural richness. The preferences and restrictions of my guests are built into the day's lesson plan to ensure that everyone enjoys the experience. Sample menus can be viewed on the Market Forays website. Classes are hands-on, and a printed recipe guide is provided to each guest. The goal is not to impress you with my skills, it is to help you realize your own abilities. Saturday Market Forays classes begin at 8 in the morning at the harbor, continue on to the farmers market, and then we cook and share a feast. Class wraps up around 3:30 pm. Cost is $145 per person. Private classes available during the week, advance reservation is required.

Make something beautiful: in our private glassblowing class for two with an item to take home. A stone's throw from Stearn's Wharf rests Saul Alcaraz's studio, Santa Barbara Art Glass, where you'll discover blown glass is functional art -- and that you're capable of creating a masterpiece.
We attended Saul’s glass blowing class in Santa Barbara. It was an amazing experience - such an unusual and fun activity ! Saul did an excellent job teaching and guiding us through the art of making our own blown glass objects. My friend made a delicate bowl and I made a glass “bauble” to place in a large bowl with other objects. The furnace is very hot, so I recommend wearing lightweight clothing. There is also a shop with beautiful glass creations for sale. What an enjoyable afternoon!

The Painted Cabernet is a locally-owned Paint and Sip studio, not a franchise. Our instructional artist will guide you through the painting one step at a time, giving one-on-one instruction while giving you the time to sip a little wine, visit with your neighbor, listen to some great music and have a fun night out. The studio offers a variety of fabulous choices for your personal masterpiece, and offers fabulous wines from the Central Coast region as well as local beer options.
My wife enjoys painting and I join along, but end up having a great evening. It’s surprising how easy they make it for you. Fun atmosphere and great concept.
