Samarkand (Uzbek Latin: Samarqand; Uzbek Cyrillic and Tajik: Самарқанд; Persian: سمرقند; Russian: Самарканд; Greek: Σαμαρκάνδη), alternatively Samarqand, is a city in modern-day Uzbekistan and is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Central Asia. There is evidence of human activity in the area of the city from the late Paleolithic era, though there is no direct evidence of when exactly Samarkand was founded; some theories propose that it was founded between the 8th and 7th centuries BC. Prospering from its location on the Silk Road between China and the Mediterranean, at times Samarkand was one of the greatest cities of Central Asia.

One of the main reasons to visit the Shahrisabz is to see the mountain pass and the rural area of Uzbekistan. The road starts with the vineyards, fruit trees, vegetables and son. Slowly the elevation will change and the fields will be replaced by hills and eventually by Rocky Mountains. The “Teshik Tosh” or “Rock with the Hole” is the first stop to explore the incredible work made by mother nature. The legendary movie “Apachen” starring the famous Gojko Mitic was shot at the same location because of the resemblance with the American Southwest prairie.

Let's make the tour together. Let's co-create it. The listed itinerary is template based, and the uniqueness of the tour is that it can be adjusted: any other city or site can be added and at the same time any city/site can be omitted. Since the agency puts the quality first, it takes the full responsibility of the tour. Many more activities like horse/camel riding, masterclasses on food/crafts, religious pilgrimage, living in houses with local families are offered.

A great way to get a first impression of the city Traveling in the bus is comfortable and with the audio guide in different languages it offers a good opportunity to learn something about Tashkent. The start of the bus tour is at the famous Hotel Uzbekistan, Tashkent's first hotel, located on Amir Timur Square. The end of the tour is there again. You can get the tickets for the bus tour at the Hotel Uzbekistan. The tour stops at various places, such as the Minor Mosque or the old city district, where you have some time to watch the place and the buildings. There are also many sights you just drive by, such as the earthquake memorial. So you have the opportunity to get a first impression of the city and then visit some of the sights again with more time. Which of the sights are worth to visit with some more time depends on the interests. For me the Minor Mosque or the old city district have been worth to visit again.
