Salou, on the Costa Dorada, nestles between quaint Cambrils and calm La Pineda. Just seven miles south of elegant Tarragona, the compact resort town is a family favorite, due in no small part to the existence of Port Aventura and Aquopolis theme parks. Gentle beaches and a slew of exciting fiestas in August add to Salou's appeal for families.

See myself as a thrill seeker and love a challenge so had to check out Bosc Aventura. A thorough safety briefing and was away! Had excellent encouragement and banter with the instructor through the two bigger courses. The bigger course was much longer then expected with plenty of zip lines and challenging obstacles.

There's a way for everyone to tap into the world of racing and that's at Salou's electric karting track. Go head to head against friends and family round the 800 metre outdoor circuit, and the best part is they're all 100% electric so there are no emissions, noise or dirt. It's the first electric karting circuit in Spain and it's got family fun stamped all over it. Adults can race against each other in timed laps around the 800-metre-long track and find out who is the king or queen of speed, while younger ones can join in with the two-seater karts. All the karts are powered by lithium battery, so you can rest assured it's an environmentally-friendly activity too. Once you're done with racing, there's the on-site cafe where you can grab a snack as well as trampolines for the kids.
