Things to do in Salisbury, England: The Best Classes & Workshops

January 24, 2022 Jeremy Dunfee

If you saw Chevy Chase's masterpiece European Vacation, you'll recognize Stonehenge's massive formation. (As a citizen of the world, you should recognize Stonehenge anyway.) The prehistoric stone circle is eight miles from Salisbury, and its visitors provide a boost to the local economy. With a history dating back over 5,000 years, there is no shortage of significant places to visit in and around Salisbury. On the "must see" list are Salisbury Cathedral, Longleat and Stourhead gardens (and Stonehenge, of course).

I can't speak highly enough of this experience. Surinder and Safia are both so very passionate about the origins of their food and methods. With so many stories to listen to, you come away feeling privileged to have been invited into a special world. I spent a wonderful half day enjoying their workshop and came away with a bounty of goodies which we had made. All of it tasted amazing, so fresh, complex and rich in flavour. I thoroughly recommend Pure Punjabi and for those who can't get to their gorgeous home, the cook-a-long workshops on Zoom are just as much fun, informative and tasty.

Very attractive setting in an very interesting gallery with lots of tempting art and craft work for sale. Lovely little cafe - very popular so expect to queue at lunchtime even mid-week. Food was very reasonable and exceptionally good value - I honestly think the citrus and za'atar chicken sandwich I had was the best sandwich I have ever had. Lovely staff and very good service.

Had a fantastic evening here yesterday making macarons. Nathan (the chef) was great fun and made the process simple to understand and kept us entertained with stories and information from his experiences as a chef. Barry and Simon were great at keeping the evening running smoothly (and covid safely) and massive thank you to them for cleaning up after us too! Was a belated mothers day gift and due to covid had been postponed several times but the school were excellent at keeping us informed of date changes without having to ask about it which I am really grateful to them for! Hugely recommend them for fun learning experience with yummy results!

Probably the best sewing and knitting shop in the area!! We stock a huge range of fabric and yarns as well as haberdashery, craft and all manner of needle craft items. Sewing machine sales and repairs and classes and workshop on offer all year round.

This shop has an excellent range of sewing and embroidery machines, over lockers and coverstitch machines. The staff are highly knowledgeable about the products they sell and try and help you make the right purchase for you. They do not pressure you at all, which I love. They provide an opportunity for you to really understand any machine you buy. If you just want to buy some quilting fabrics, cottons or kits and maybe some wool too; they will help you with that.
