This is a very important historic site worth reading about before seeing. There had been competing centers of power at the turn of the last millennium between Novgorod, Kiev, and Moscow. Ivan the Terrible was brutal to the occupants of Novgorod. We had a guide who gave us the history of the long past and of the occupation by Nazis during WWII. The Kremlin is the chief attraction of the city which is somewhat neglected compared to St. Petersburg and Moscow. The Kremlin itself is free but do get a guide.

This is one of the best places to observe sunsets in the city. The amazing view on the two rivers and the “Strelka”, when Oka becames to Volga. Also you could see all down districts of the city with football stadium, Alexander Nevsky cathedral and “Yarmarka” (old fair’s building).

This spiritual segment of the Kremlin includes several enormous cathedrals and the Ivan the Great Bell Tower, the watchtower for the Kremlin, which would sound its 21 bells to warn of an approaching enemy.
Cathedral square is within the confines of the Kremlin walls. The beautiful white churches are a sight to behold, whether near or far. The golden domes shine beautifully in the sun so magnificently. It should be noted that you must pay a fee to enter here. A definite visit if only for the photos.

Various architectural masterpieces are conveniently located all in one place inside this court, which was the economic and political center of Novgorod in ancient times.

At one time, Vladisvostok was one of the strongest coastal fortresses in the world, and the concrete structures used to fortify the city can still be seen at the base of mountains, along local roads and in the seaside.
