I tried to see the interior of the Chiesa San Carlo al Quattro Fontane at least three times during my twelve days in Rome. Finally, the allusive church was opened before noon and I had a chance to admire simplicity and perfect geometric perspective of the Borromini’s white oval interior. No elaborate decorations, no gilded statues... just the flawless harmony and immaculate precision of Borromini’s design. How elegant it is... The facade neighboring the famous Quattro Fontane is absolutely stunning, but it needs to be cleaned...

I have visited the Chiesa di San Marcello al Corso many times during my visits to Rome. It is a beautiful church with several chapels devoted to many saints and it is surprising peaceful despite it's popularity gained in part with the church's proximity to the Piazza Venezia and located on the main street of the Via Corso. It was kind of chilly the day I stopped in but you could actually feel the heat from the hundreds of votive candles lit by parishioners and pilgrims. When I visited in the past I noticed the church hosts free concerts Sunday evenings, at least in September when I usually visit Rome. I was not able to visit in the past but this time I did attend the concert one Sunday night and Giulia Fontana (soprano) and Fabio Ignazio (baritone) sang a wonderful assortment of sacred arias and songs for about an hour or so. It was a special night. The event requires no ticket, first come first serve and the church was full but a voluntary offering is asked for or you can buy the CD. If you are on a pilgrimage to Rome, a visit to San Marcello al Corso is a must and attend the concert if the opportunity presents itself.

Ss. Nome di Maria is a lovely church. The architecture is really interesting inside as well as outside. There are some lovely things to see inside the church. We passed this church several times while walking around the streets, and in the immediate vicinity you can see several Forums of Roman emperors, and one of the most important sites, the Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II. This is a really great area and is not to be missed.

I was trying to find magnificent masterpiece of Borromini, Chiesa San Carlo al Quattro Fontane, and stumbled upon beautiful Oratorio del Santissimo Sacramento al Tritone along the way attracted by its harmonious facade with two graceful angels above the portal. The Oratorio was opened and I had a chance to see its picturesque 19th century interior adorned with frescoes by Luigi Martinori and its altar partially designed by Luigi Valadier. The ceiling is especially attractive with its deceptive painted dome effect.
