This is a magnificent site in the city. One can have a viewpoint of the whole Ipanema and Leblon beach, the buildings and the sea. At daytime evening or at night, breath taking!

Balcony with a spectacular view of the city, it is on the way to Corcovado, you can go through it, the advantage is that it is free and you do not have to pay any entrance fee. Ideal to see the sunset. You can go by bus to a part and then walk up or directly in a taxi. The view is incredible and the time to enjoy the place is half an hour to an hour.

We visited the mountain here as part of the "real" favela tour organised by Aurora Hostel (as opposed to the tourist agency government propaganda ripoff safari tours), visiting from the adjacent favela around midday. The favela is an easy walk from Leblon beach, just past Sheraton's monstrosity, and you can either walk through the favela up the hill or take a Moto taxi up to the park where the nature trail begins. The trail is a good 45minute hike (if you're fit) up the mountain, with a lot of steep climbs and some occasional slippery paths. It is recommended not to try it at all if it has been raining. Nature is rife up the trail, and if you are lucky (and bring some fruit with you) you could get lucky enough to see some monkeys on your way. Alternatively, even more rarely, snakes have been known to inhabit some of the trees about midway up. Towards the summit, the plant life gets increasingly more compact, making the walk a bit difficult, but at the top you are rewarded with a flat rocky plateau with panoramic views all over the south side of Rio, from Copacabana beach to Rocinha favela. Absolutely, this mountain climb is a must do for nature and hiking lovers, and the view is even more spectacular than the one from Sugarloaf or Corcovado.

We did a jeep tour that included a visit to Parque Nacional Da Tijuca and the Vista Chinesa. It was much more relaxing than walking or cycling there. There is a pagoda that lends itself nicely with the theming in honour of the importation of tea to Brazil from China. There is only one reason to visit and make sure you bring plenty of mosquito repellent. The views over Rio de Janeiro. It certainly will make you say wow. As well as the views there are birds to spot and you might see monkeys.
