With its plentiful beaches, dramatic mountains, and backdrop of samba and bossa nova rhythms, it's easy to fall in love with Rio de Janeiro. Made famous in song, Ipanema Beach is still the place to stroll, sunbathe, and be seen. The largest Art Deco statue in the world, Christ the Redeemer, beckons visitors to Corcovado Mountain. Rio’s annual Carnaval celebrations are bacchanalian extravaganzas of feasting, music, dance, and costumed revelry.

My husband found this tour and Nina was the best tour guide we had in Rio. She comes from a unique perspective in that she knows a lot of the graffiti artists. She has a college degree in the arts and ran a pop up art gallery. She is extremely passionate about the art and an excellent teacher. Her goal is to expand our awareness in how we see the world. I left her tour feeling more informed and curious about graffiti which is everywhere in Rio. Graffiti has been legal for the last few years so it is fast becoming a key component of the visual beauty of Rio! We took the tour that focused on Ipanema and the botanical gardens and ended in a brewery. The beer was not included but was an excellent way to end the tour especially on a warm day! Nina offers many tours. Don’t miss her tours! You will look at Rio in a newfound manner. Thank you.

Highly recommend Marco. We booked two full days of touring with him and his driver. Marco is extremely knowledgeable about Rio's sights, history, culture, architecture. He is an experienced guide, skilled at setting and adjusting an itinerary to meet the particular interests of his clients. I came home with notes on topics to research and read about: Brazilian authors, aviation pioneers, landscape architects, etc. I appreciated his good conversation and good humor. We had fun and we learned a lot....we loved our time in Rio and Marco gets a lot of the credit for that.

Our tour of Petropolis Bohemia is for those who enjoy a good beer. After visiting the main sights of the city of Petrópolis, we will go to the circuit of the Bohemia brewery that counts on the tasting of the 3 main beers of the brand. The city of Petropolis, also known as the "Imperial City" for having been the refuge of the imperial family during the summer, houses a beautiful architectural complex with buildings such as Petrópolis Cathedral, one of the only neo-Gothic churches in Brazil. Imperial Museum, where it was the residence of the imperial family and that counts on a great collection of pieces of the time and the Palace Quitandinha, that was the biggest hotel casino of Latin America, in the decade of 40. Who enters the Bohemia Brewery, immediately falls in love with the beer universe. The visit offers the most complete brewing experience in Latin America.

I had the pleasure to be taken on a fishing tour via Lima tours. Firstly, any traveler can appreciate being treated honestly and professionally. Rodrigo completely outlined the itinerary, the cost and how to be prepared (let me capitalize SUN SCREEN:). The tour was as described and better. I felt like a real local, fishing in locations that were definitely off the normal touristy spots. The natural beauty was amazing. Additionally, Rodrigo was very knowledgeable about Rio and Brazil in general (both from a historical perspective and in regard to present day). No question was too small or too inconsequential. Instead of being on a tour, i felt like I was out with a few friends. Any traveler can appreciate that the absolute best way to travel is via local residents. Lastly (but not least), the local fishing guide Gustavo was amazing. His passion towards fishing was unparalleled. It was a pleasure to be introduced to someone with so much local fishing knowledge. If you are in Rio and want to fish (or do any other activity via a tour) Lima tours will make you feel like you are local Carioca returning to Rio:)

Visiting Rio, we wanted to experience the more authentic nightlife around town, but were concerned about our safety, so when this came up, it sounded like the answer, wasn’t expensive and we gave it a try. We met at a hostel and the organisers were very welcoming and sorted us a beer. We then met the rest of the group as they arrived and learned how to make Caipirinhas before getting into groups and competing to make the best ones. Naturally we were drinking them! We then walked to the station and took the tube to Lapa. Bottles of shots were brought with us, but not wanting to be completely trolleyed before we even got there, my only gripe is we’d have preferred beers for the journey as there’s a fair bit of walking/stopping for photos and we were getting parched. We managed to get two bottles from a street cart as we walked in the end. From there we got to drink, see bars, see and feel the vibe of Lapa, get some great pics on the famous steps, dance in a samba club to a live band, go to a dance club, meet some great people we’ve stayed in touch with and have some real fun. Our guides looked after us, kept an eye out to ensure we were, and felt, safe, and made sure no one got left behind, whilst giving us the space to be tourists! Great night! I’d do it again! Though next time I’d bring a beer for the train????????

My wife and I booked Patricia for our two day cruise ship visit to Rio. The whole experience was wonderful. She was responsive to my emails and provided an itinerary that suited us and took account of the very busy period we were there. Over the two days we saw and learned much, much more than would have been possible if we had taken a group tour or travelled independently. We saw everything we had wanted to see and more, avoiding most of the crowds, and we weren’t taken to see anything that didn’t interest us. Patricia speaks good English and is lovely company.
First discovered in 1830 by Emperor Dom Pedro I, Petropólis is located 68 kilometers away from the City of Rio. Petrópolis is one of the cities of Rio de Janeiro State. It is very important to the history of Brazil. Therefore, many of its attractions are historical, such as the Imperial Museum built between 1845 and 1864, to serve as a summer palace for the Brazilian Emperor D. Pedro II. The neoclassical architecture with a rich collection of pieces related to the monarchy that includes furniture used at the time, documents, paintings, works of art, and even personal objects that had belonged to the imperial family. Petrópolis has kept its charm from those glorious days, conserving the aristocratic mansions of the barons, viscounts, and earls, located near the Imperial Palace. Other attractions are the Quitandinha Palace, Crystal Palace, Saint Peter Cathedral, the residences of Baron of Mauá, and Princess Isabel. Visiting Petrópolis is a true time journey.

My wife (from China) and I (from Hong Kong but now resided in Las Vegas, USA) together with our couple Brazilian friends from University of Sao Paulo had a great visit under our excellent tour guide, Damiana. She knows the history and uniqueness of this district and explained in details the cultural aspects and covered all the stops with patience. Through this walking trip, we would able to have a much better understanding of the other side of Brazil and appreciate much more the contribution of Africa culture in this lovely and diversify country. Once again, our great appreciation.
