Reykjavik bears the distinction of being the world’s northernmost capital, and for many Icelandic visitors it also serves as a gateway to the rugged adventure options beyond. Recharge after outdoor pursuits in one of the many geothermal springs or luxurious indoor spas. We appreciate Reykjavik’s open-minded and energetic culture that includes a hip and internationally recognized music and arts scene, great food and notoriously "enthusiastic" nightlife.

In the centre where Reykjavik’s old heart beats there is a charming red house, once called Aberdeen. There, Kogga, one of Iceland’s most renowned ceramic artists, runs her studio and gallery. The artist warmly welcomes visitors to her gallery that displays unique art pieces hand crafted on the spot. Catch a glimpse of the kiln in the back, it ensures visitors to cool Iceland a very warm welcome indeed!
This is a beautiful shop that has unique designs that truly shows the artists talent and eye for design. Some things were out of my price range but I found a beautiful tiny vase that I just had to take home. Thanks for the friendly service too.

Changing you into an awesome viking and getting a cool portrait. Opening hours are from noon til 18:00 (can be flexible if booked in advance with opening hours). Best is to book a time on our homepage www.mink.is. The price are on our homepage. Inside you'll enter into a Viking setting where we you in a variety of handmade Viking costumes. And when you are all dressed up and ready for battle, then you'l pick your weapon of choice, and step in front of the camera. Located on Reykjavik main shopping street is MINK Viking Portrait. Entrance is on Smidjustigur, right around the corner on the 2nd floor. Parking garage is next door on Hverfisgata 20 (1 min walking from the studio).
My wife and I where on our honeymoon in Reykjavik and I wanted a few things to surprise her on the trip. I saw a link on facebook to the shop and had a few emails back and forth before booking (several weeks before). Good communication throughout. When we arrived and realised how close it was to everything in Reykjavik it was even better. We where welcomed in and within minutes looking like a king and queen from ancient times. The lady in the shop was amazing and dressed us up perfectly o look the part. We looked like something straight out of a TV show and the studio really helps get you in the right frame of mind. Couple this with dramatic Viking music and you're really in the mood for some pillaging!! The photos where amazing and whilst we are both camera shy we had a lot of fun posing and carrying various weapons to add to our attire. The finished product was beyond my expectation and has added to our whole experience of Iceland. Thanks alot Mink (and Carla) - Keep up the good work.

We visited here on a frigid -5 degree C February day. It was a true cultural experience with mainly local residents. We met several and had a nice conversation. The outside has two older hot pots, at 39 and 42 degrees C. A newer area has a heated lap pool at 33C and two more hot tubs The one for children is less hot and a quite nice big area. There is also a steam room to get boiled in and a ice bath next to the steam room at 10 degrees C. We did not try the ice bath!! There is an indoor lap pool too--but everyone was outside surrounded by the City. Going from a hot pot to another or the steam room was incredibly brisk and incredibly fun. The men's locker room was great--a trip back in time, the woman's was newer. Both were spotlessly clean. The sauna was out of order. Staff was very helpful to first timers explaining the system to us and even calling a cab when we were done two hours later. The best surprise was that there is no admission charge for those 67 years old and older. In very expensive Reykjavik this was a treat. (We are late 60's) Towels cost about 6$ to rent, so bring your own from your hotel. We enjoyed this as much as we would have visiting a much more expensive tourist trap Lagoon of a certain color. This might be the favorite part of our entire trip, highly recommended.

I had taken a Golden Circle Tour and on the Bus ride back to the Hotels the Tour Guide had suggested we check out the Secret Cellar and that he will be there later in the day (later I found out he also was one of the comedians on that night). I ended up taking his suggestion and I am glad I did. The patrons were friendly in which I ended up making a group of friends, the comedians were absolutely funny and come from all walks of life and I had met one of the guys that runs the show at the Secret Cellar-Dan who also did and outstanding comedic act! Dan is a really cool dude and was pretty easy going which reflected in the way the venue ran. He It was pretty awesome to talk to as I had ended up stumbling in an hour before the show started. I had a couple “White Ale” style beer on tap which were really good... I got to figure out what it is exactly is to try to locate it in the States...with that aside I ended up coming back in the next night again (I think it was a Saturday) with a full house and pretty much everyone had a blast. Also after the comedy show is over it swaps over to karaoke which to my surprise a lot of the people there got a pretty Rockin voice which was really entertaining to watch as well I will definitely be attending again when I come back this summer!

The 15 min film presents Iceland in all its diversity. Footage from both city and nature is projected onto 4 walls and the ceiling of the pavilion, together forming a cube that surrounds its guests. You fly through waterfalls, a marathon, and a volcano even erupts. The pavilion runs daily at Harpa in Reykjavik on weekdays from 10-18 and 11-18 on weekends.
