If you want to feel like 'à la maison' (at home ) and enjoy a relaxing atmosphere, head to this boutique winery, in Red Hill. Mont Rouge means 'Red Hill' in French and was previously called Darling Park. The 4 acre vineyard consists of Pinot noir, Pino Gris and Chardonnay and has 30 years of history. I tasted the 2018 Pinot noir with strawberry flavours, not too light, not too strong and perfect to go along with my lunch.Gourmet Barbecue lunch on weekends and public holidays with generous options of meat for $25 .Tasting for a reasonable $5. Nice and cosy atmosphere with 2 welcoming hosts, Brendon and Jenny. This is what you call a hidden gem.

Avani is a boutique winery and vineyard producing premium cool-climate wines on the Mornington Peninsula. Adopting a minimal intervention approach, we create wines of character which best express their site and growing season. Avani Syrah is our estate wine, made exclusively from grapes grown on our vineyard in Red Hill South. Our Amrit range showcases Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris from other cool-climate vineyards in Main Ridge and Shoreham. We also experiment with new winemaking approaches in our limited release vintages (skin-contact Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, and Sauvignon Blanc). Our cellar door is open the first weekend of every month (10am to 5pm) for wine tasting.
Just got back from an absolutely magical afternoon at Avani Wines, celebrating my wife's birthday. They were running a pop-up restaurant event with chef Harry Mangat of Biji Dining. Having been spoilt by the quality of Indian food in our native UK, this is the one cuisine that our new home-city of Melbourne hasn't - in our experience to date - nailed. How wonderful to be proven wrong this lunchtime! We particularly enjoyed the courgette 'bhartha' starter, the king prawns in South Indian spices, the main course of lamb and the innovative strawberry and cream pudding with it's hint of cardamon. As we had arrived early for our meal, we had time for some wine tasting and loved the aromatic flavours of the Amrit pinot gris, chardonnay and the pinot noir. The setting for the pop-up restaurant was picture-postcard, with gorgeous view towards the vineyards and the hills. A magical lunch out and an experience not to be missed.

Our Cellar Door is open the first weekend of every month and by appointment. Please check google listing for open days/ hours. Rahona Valley is boutique vineyard located in hidden valley in Red Hill South. Travel along a road less travelled to the the 25 year old vineyard in a protected valley in Red Hill South, where vines are grown on fertile, rich red basalt soil producing some of the best wines on the Mornington Peninsula. Come say hello to Toby and Dianne at this small, boutique vineyard with a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. We don’t aim to make everything. We don’t aim to be everywhere. We don't aim to be open everyday. But from the wine to the experience and everything in between, we do aim to be seriously good.
It’s the holy grail of wine tastings, off the beaten track, unassuming, amazing location and facilities. The wines, the wines, best bubbles on the Peninsula, serious table wines. Did I say gorgeous setting? Amazing experience, go there! Period.

Two young vignerons making their mark on the Mornington Peninsula. Producing patient wines from single sites. Wine tasting, BYO pinics, beers by Hop Nation.
I almost want to keep this place to myself, but these guys deserve to be wildly successful. This is one of the great delights of the Mornington Peninsula. A true boutique winery in a stunning setting with amazing wines. The cellar door is very rustic, made by repurposing some old concrete water tanks. You will not be rushed through the tasting, it’s a place where they actually want you to relax and take in the wines and the atmosphere. There is no food service, and you are encouraged to bring a picnic if you wish. Love it.

The Mornington Peninsula's first commercial winery, established 1975. -Historic vineyard with 45 year old vines and extensive gardens. -Premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines - $10 wine tasting fee per person with personal service by the winemaker and extended MRE family. - Lunch available in The Larder on weekends and most Public Holidays, with extended hours over the summer season. Visit our website for opening hours, menus and bookings.
We found this winery as we were driving past, we were the only ones there. The staff were super friendly, happy for us to do a tasting $10 a head, not pushy and didn’t hover. Told us about the property and poured first 2 wines then let us enjoy them and then he came back with the next two reds. Gardens are also amazing. Just be mindful of the weather as the road in is a small dirt road and could be tricky when raining

Found this while looking for somewhere to have dinner on NYE (on TripAdviser - a wide search). Decided to drop in on the way to Sorrento - not such a detour (from Mount Martha) when you consider the traffic on the coast road. Very friendly people and the food we had (ham+cheese sanger and an apple donut) were yummy. Will definitely have to go back to try the ploughman's lunch. The ciders were a mixed bag - as I'm new to cider it might not be a fair review. The first (Classic?) was definitely the most interesting (cool smell and cool taste on first try, but a wonderful sweetish, tangy aftertaste that lasted and lasted). The next one was a little sweeter and more forward, with no so much of an aftertaste. The pear/apple was terribly dangerous, not super complex, but not too sweet and something that could just be drunk continually... And the sweet one, well it was nice, but too sweet for my tastes. The sparkling apple was OK - but I'd probably want it in litre bottles to take-away. And the vinegar was superb! quite astringent, but with lots of apple flavour. Almost too acidic to drink straight but we loved it. Bought some of the special (Dry?) which may have gone by now and the classic, plus a bottle of vinegar and some cherries. Only about 10 minutes from home, so will keep an eye on the website for new and interesting releases...and the vinegar.

Fenian Wines is a small winery tucked away in a beautiful part of the Mornington Peninsula. It is a calming spot, and the wines inside are well made and subtle. The Chardonnay is particularly distinctive and the Pinots are good examples of the region. It is worth planning to stop by when they are open.

Wine tasting experience was amazing. The young gentleman and lady facilitating the tasting was very nice, good knowledge of the wines and made the whole experience worthwhile. Would definitely recommend anyone visiting Red Hill to visit the estate for the Pinot Grigio and the amazing view.

Had a great Sunday afternoon picnic here by the dam. Food was fantastic as was the wine and the location. Loved just sitting back in the deck chairs and looking back up the hill at the vines,
