We always make sure we stop at the info centres in a new town, and this one was another wonderful welcome. The volunteer manning the centre was full of knowledge, support and happy to take onboard any feedback and comments regarding our visit thus far. I was happy to could provide her with information to assist in her advice to future visitors to my local area of Capricornia. Definitely good value all round available to everyone in this centre. I wish we had more time to visit the museum across the road which is only open for 3 hours per day.

We spent some time here before travelling to Heron Island by boat and found great souvenirs that were really well priced compared with some of the other shops we had visited so far on our coastal driving trip. There were tonnes of info brochures as well if you needed info or maps about other places on your itinerary, and the staff were lovely. Note that if you are catching the Heron Island ferry the ferry staff will tell you on check in that the boat ride can be choppy (understatement of the decade - it is known as the vomit rocket for a reason) and will suggest you get travel sickness tablets at the information centre. Because it is not a licensed pharmacy they are only ginger tablets, so if you are heading there for the ferry, I strongly recommend you get some hard core travel sickness tablets from a chemist before you head out to the boat terminal - once you arrive there are no chemists around.
