This wonderful Museum does not appear in any of the travel brochures we read but I’m so glad we heard about it. Just the most amazing collection of memorabilia and history. What an amazing place to go for anyone young or old. Wheelchair accessible and so much to see. We thought we’d be there an hour or so we left at closing after arriving at 1:00 pm we could have easily spent another couple of hours. If you are going go early to make the most of it. Great cafe as well with reasonable prices. So so fab. Don’t miss it. If you have a choice between Paronella park and this museum choose the museum you won’t regret it at all.

The Highfields Pioneer Village covers an area of 20 acres of picturesque grounds with over 70 buildings of historic interest, pleasant surroundings and picnic facilities. It is located at 73 Wirraglen Rd Highfields, just 15kms North of Toowoomba.
Fresh Damper made on-site in the old Wood Fired Bakers Oven and Billy Tea was a great start to our visit at Highfields Pioneer Village, 15 mins north of Toowoomba. There is so much here, something for everyone. And lots of space here to social distance! Perfect! Give yourself plenty of time. Really loved the gorgeous 1900 Pioneer slab cottage surrounded by cottage gardens, the original one teacher pioneer school, 100 year old chapel, the huge collection of vintage push bikes, and antique vehicles, in working order. My husband had a great time at the transport and fire brigade museums, talking to the passionate volunteers and seeing the collections of radio and record players. Lots for children too We stayed just over 2 hours - had a great time. Don't leave Toowoomba until you've visited here.Open 10am - 4pm If you come the last Sunday of the month - they have mini steam train rides - hint need to wear enclosed shoes. 10am - 2.30pm

So much to see in the "Pringle Cottage Museum Complex". So many memories of the past and so well preserved. One of the better historical villages in Queensland

A hidden treasure trove of one of the most diverse collections of local history. Toys, military items, kitchenware, and locomotives from the now defunct Moreton Central Sugar Mill are among the many interesting exhibits for you to view. Special displays are also regularly rotating in addition to the wonderful permanent exhibits.

Site of part of the Vievers sugar cane plantation of the 19th century. Fantastic photographic display of the growth of the Gold Coast region, and displays of objects that put us back to the time we were kids and long before my time. The volunteers are a wealth of information and very passionate about sharing their insights into the go,d coast. Laid back little museum donation at the door. Well worth a look.

Situated in the city centre, the Museum showcases life in the tropics from dinosaurs to modern day, with our travelling exhibitions and local displays adding a touch of the unexpected. The Museum is family-friendly and has free activities and tours every day including a great activity where you can help fire a ships cannon (at 11am and 2.30Pm daily, covered shoes required). Our Cafe is open from 10am to 3pm daily and serves great coffee, milkshakes, fresh sandwiches, wraps, slices and more. There are gluten-free options as well. And we've got FREE WiFi!
We visited the Museum of Tropical Queensland and were fascinated by the story of the HMS Pandora, it’s journey in 1790 to try to reclaim the HMS Bounty and its subsequent shipwreck on the Great Barrier Reef in 1791. The museum contains a life-size model of the bow of the HMS Pandora that provides enormous insight into the construction and size of the ship. The museum also houses numerous artifacts and provides visual storytelling of the discovery and investigation of the shipwreck of the HMS Pandora. A thoroughly enjoyable and informative museum.

The James Cook Museum is set in a stunning nineteenth-century convent, and houses an original anchor and cannon from the HMB Endeavour, and an extensive collection of local Guugu Yimithiir artefacts. The museum tells the story of the interaction between Captain James Cook and the indigenous people – it is a story that is integral to Australian history, told from both perspectives, and is the first recorded act of Reconciliation. The museum showcases the fascinating heritage of Cooktown – set on the banks of the Endeavour River.
Captain Cook's anchor, as well as some of the cannons from the Endeavour, are on display. Also an amazing eclectic mixture of items which are well worth seeing. The venue in itself is fabulous!

This museum focuses on Brisbane's time as Pacific headquarters during World War II.
Absolutely marvellous museum chronicling life in Brisbane in the 1940s. I was fortunate to be given a personal tour of the place by one of the awesome volunteers there. If you have any interest in WW2 history, just go!
