Puttaparthi (IAST: Puṭṭaparti) is a town in Anantapur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located in Puttaparthi mandal of Kadiri revenue division. The original name of Puttaparthi was Gollapalli. The town is located on the banks of Chitravathi River which is a tributary of Pennar River, and is surrounded by undulating hills. While this small town may not have much to offer in terms of sightseeing, the place is a religious destination popularly known by the world at large as the birthplace of Sri Sri Sathya Sai Baba, and for the ashram which he founded, known as Prasanthi Nilayam.

This temple is called as Sathyabhama Temple or Sathyamma temple, the consort of Lord Krishna. which is located near hanuman temple on gopuramway road at 5 to 10 min distance from prashanthi nilayam. This temple was build by the Late Kondama Raju, grandfather of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Once Kondama Raju had a dream in which he saw a beautiful women who was all alone. That time there was huge strome accompanied by thunder,lighting and a heavy shower of rain. The lady approached him in dream and called him, "My Son I am, I am sathyabama, the devine consort of lord krishna. Krishna promised me to bring me the karpaka vruksha and asked me to wait here for his arrival. I don't have a place to stay in this storms. Can you please give me shelter?. Kondama who woke up was greatly moved by this dream and decided to construct a temple for her and made her his family deity. This event took place some years before satya sai's birth
