Strolling, shopping, and sipping tequila along the Malecon boardwalk of Puerto Vallarta is the best way to kick off your vacation. Then hit the cobblestone streets of Old Vallarta to browse the flea market for handmade crafts. The calm, warm waters of the Bay of Banderas make for excellent diving, or you can just watch artists sculpt spectacular creations in the sand. The cluster of fine art galleries in El Centro are perfect spots to hit on a self-guided art tour.

Majolica Antica is more like a gallery than a pottery shop. The pieces are hand-crafted which is a much better option than the mass-produced ceramics that you find in souvenirs shops all over PV. The staff is warm and friendly, answering questions but without the hard sell. Even if you aren't looking to purchase, its worth stopping by to see the beautiful pieces and charming shop.

We searched out this gallery on my nephew’s recommendation - as an artist, he has very high standards. We certainly were not disappointed. The venue is open, with a rugged sophistication: lots of white plaster, curved walls, interesting windows and the art is modern, a little edgy and very exciting. I particularly liked the sculptures with figures of petrified bone, silver, and small jewels. The same artist also has a collection of jewelry on display. An experience not to be missed.

Oficina de Proyectos Culturales (Office for Cultural Projects (OPC)) is an independent non-profit arts organization dedicated to fostering dialogue through exhibitions, round table discussions, public art and arts education programs. OPC works with artists, architects, curators, academics, and writers who explore ideas that shape our city and to develop cultural programming that is firmly rooted in Puerto Vallarta, yet international in scope.. OPC is aligned with leading cultural organizations in Bahia de Banderas: Taller Pulpo Rojo, Colectivo Guerrero, Bodega Tres San Pancho, and Asociacion Civil Pro-Museo.

I love the art galleries in PVR! This is an event to showcase the wonderful talent by all types of artisans. There are street musicians, jewelry shops, art galleries, boutiques and restaurants that participate making this a very fun event to take part in. Highly recommend, so much fun.
